I thought we made them look better
Their creativity was quite basic and all about going wide and hitting crosses
They didn’t create anything through the middle yet that looks like the area they were dominant in
We changed up midfield and they barely got a kick
I disagree completely. They always looked for an inside pass and only went wide to keep the ball if one wasn't on. On numerous occasions they got the ball to feet for a central player well in our half. Once they went wide to stretch us they would then come back inside to exploit the greater space. It was clear that they are very, very well coached. I thought they gave one of the best footballing performances of any team against us this season. It was only the last 15 mins when they decided to keep what they had, sit deeper and go long that we got a look in.

No point giving him 18 months when he is usually gone sometime between 24 and 36 months.... I don't get that?
I read @Bedfordspurs paragraph as giving Jose 18months to turn the team around. I may have misinterpreted what he meant but 18 months to start playing the way he wants us to is too long imho. It depends of course on the support he will get in the summer transfer window. He obviously has the ability to build a very successful team, but he needs the tools to do that. Posters will interpret this as me being anti Jose which is absolutely not the case. I just don’t see him building teams for the future. His success tends to be rather more immediate.

Actually it was the last 35 minutes
They had 1 shot in that period and the penalty
Their incredibly well coached and they should be as their a very settled organised side with decent players
But they came centrally and nothing happened IMO. Their passes from the centre were cut out as they weren’t great
All their good attacks came via going wide and mainly left. They’re we’re wasteful but the could be because their striker is actually very poor with an average goal scoring history.
The made progress through the middle because we let them hence why they’re we’re times when all their players were in our half which looked great a pond the6 overloaded that area
To give it some context we had the same amount of shots on target as them and gained 18% in the last 35 minutes
We start with that set up when we have no strikers and we will create plenty. They had no answer for it and retreated

I meant the former. He has 6 months now to understand the team and the players which he is doing and then 2 more windows to show the improvement i believe we will see (as in the finished product will be then) but we will progress from this summer

Just watching highlights of last years Quarter and Semi. Llorente with the winner in the quarter and played a big part in the semi.

Not a massive signing and probably not top class for us but he proved that back up of any sort can be valuable. That’s what we don’t have at the moment.

Make no mistake, No Nando, no CL Final. I find it alarming we could muster the wedge to sign him again for another season.

Or rather an assessment of how his career has gone to date. Look I like the guy, I just don’t think he is a long term manager. How successful he is going to be will depend on whether or not he gets the players he wants/needs.
Another way of assessing his career is that he leaves once he's won stuff

Getting rid wasn't the issue, I dont think he really had much more in him - but not replacing him with anyone was.

Would have liked us to get Chris Wood in, how realistic - I am not sure.

Yup that was basically the mistake. Llorente was never a good fit but just him being a striker meant the shape and balance was better than not having him. In the summer we really should have tried to bring someone in especially after seeing how crucial having a secondary option could be. It is a bit baffling that we willingly started this season with no backup striker.

I can only think Parrot might have featured in Poch's plans but that's a big ask of a 17 year old and he wasn't even giving him minutes at the end of every match which you would think he would do to get him up to speed for first team action. [emoji848]

Did we just think Kane wouldn't have any periods of injury? Also sure, Son has been pretty much bullet proof but it's a lot to keep assuming any absences of his wouldn't clash with Kane's they almost did last season....

I don't think he will be prepared to wait 18 months, if we can't show we match his ambitions or commitment he will go.

Honestly that's the sort of shout I like. It didn't have to be a world beater. He's done a lot of bench duties at Burnley and would surely relish that role with us. As signings go the majority of fans wouldn't have been excited but its about having specific personnel for specific roles. It was an oversight to not add a forward in the summer but knowing Kane was injured through January and still not adding one was just plain neglect.

I now expect us to suffer in the league run in and if we miss out on CL by a few odd points, I'd say not adding a forward in either window will be the main reason and the club will suffer when 30,000 people turn up to watch EL games next season at £30 a pop.

Disappointing result but not really surprised. We had so many injury problems that we were always going to struggle. But the disappointing thing was we failed to use our home advantage to get at least a draw. Now we will face a battle to overturn the 1-0 defeat in the return leg away. We played poorly until the last 20 mins of the match. I think Mourinho made a mistake with his team selection. Lamela should have started while Gedson should not have. Even with his injury problems, Lamela lifted the team after he came on. Gedson is still not ready to start games as he had a poor game.

Our attack were poor. We didn't create many chances but failed to make use of the chances we had. Without Kane and Son, we were always going to struggle to score goals. But still we should have done better with the chances we had especially Moura and Bergwijn in the first half. Alli had a poor match and were rightly replaced in the second half. Not sure why Alli showed his temper by throwing water bottle and shoes after being replaced. He has only himself to blame for another poor performance. Lamela lifted the team after coming on and even tested the goalie from the freekick. He really should have started this match as he not only improved our attack but stopped Leipzip playing by elbowing and tackling them.

Our midfield were outplayed by Leipzig. This match showed yet again that we need a quality defensive midfielder. Winks or Dier are not the solution to our midfield problems. We really missed the work rate of Sissoko. Ndombele had a positive impact after coming on but he still doesn't look fully fit. Lo Celso played well but he still lacks the finishing touches of Eriksen. I think Lo Celso's shots lack the power and accuracy of Eriksen. His freekick tested the goalie but still not good enough to get us a goal.

Our defence had a decent match but still conceded a soft goal. It was really stupid of Davies to concede the penalty like that. He should have been alert of the Leipzig player before clearing the ball like that. Too bad Lloris couldn't save the penalty but he did make a few other important saves. We also rode our luck a few times as Leipzig created many chances. I still feel Vertonghen should have started instead of Sanchez. Sanchez had a good game but our defence looks more stable when Alderweireld and Vertonghen play together.

It is going to be very difficult to overcome this defeat in the return leg at Leipzip. We really need to improve our performance if we want to overcome Leipzig. Let's hope the likes of Lamela and Ndombele will be fully fit when we play at Leipzip. Mourinhi also needs to pick the right team if we want to progress to the next round of the CL.

that was a 1-0 "thrashing", move on, imagine if we score an away goal 10 mins in over there, different ball game, all the pressure is on them, they've never played at this level before.

I guess we’ll see in the return leg. I think we only got in the game as they decided to stick with what they had.

Is disagree that nothing happened centrally for them. Their first set of chances came from a good run through the middle by their (excellent) number 7, a ball to the wide right player, who was able to hit a ball across goal delivered from only a yard or so wide of our penalty area. Then only 10 seconds later a ball from their central midfield just outside our box, to their wide right player inside our box, to Werner. Their next chance ball into Schlick on edge of box in centre, lay back to their 27 (also excellent) who carries it a few yards, pulls in our defenders and then puts Werner in one on one. The penalty.... a ball in to Schlick, a lay back to Werner who carries the ball, spots the 3 on one near Davies and puts a good ball in that their 27 is always going to beat Davies to, who is caught too wide (because of the 3 on 1 he has to deal with). Next big chance, their 18 carrying it through the centre, gives it to their 3 who is running directly at Sanchez, he plays a 12 yard pass inside to Werner who is one on one with Toby, who dummies it for Schlick in acres of space, one on one with the keeper.

Sorry I don’t found going through the middle then hitting the wide man to make the pass as creating through the middle so that’s where I think we’re disagreeing
Their CM players were good but everything came via the wide players passing
