Dembele was incredible at winning the ball and keeping it. Wanyama had injury problems before spurs, so it's not a surprise how it's gone for him. But there are plenty of ball winners who do fine at other teams, Fernandinho, Fabinho, Kante. The two top Teams that are missing them are us and Arsenal imho and we are as soft as brick in the middle.

Maybe your right
But we would need to play 4-3-3 with an tackler in there and that doesn’t IMO suit us and is what hurt us earlier in the season

Dire will be off in the next window hopefully!

You remind me of the people on here that were desperate for us to sell Lamela when he was out for a year injured and assumed he would never be fit again.

I think it is myopic to write off a player after a season hampered with injuries. How about you wait until he is fit again and judge him when he gets a run in the team?

I think Kane’s phoning it in too, he’s not working the channels as much, he’s not using his pace or his passing ability to anywhere near their limits.

I don’t like to see him stropping when another forward doesn’t pass either, he did it twice tonight in situations where he wouldn’t even consider making a pass.

I think Kane is entitled to protect himself a bit. Part of managing his injuries is not getting into areas where he gets into injury situations! I don't think he's phoning it in whatsoever!

It was not a great performance, but the concessions were both mistakes. First Davies allowed himself to be burned by his man, I question why Jan was up in the same area when the bloke broke with the ball (i.e. why not defend a little deeper inside knowing that Davies could get caught for pace and that he is not match-fit) and then when the eventual shooting. moment comes, Toby throws a foot at it instead of putting his body across to block the ball. As for that second, Eriksen once again got caught in possession, which seemed to be his entire game today. It was a poor performance from him. But again, these are mistakes which can be cut out, and going back to Davies, I think the lack of match fitness showed. It was worrying to see Hugo let a cross go through his gloves near the end, but there were a couple of bright spots for me. Winks looked really really good, I personally thought that given his lack of match fitness, Dele showed desire and work rate, as well as creating a couple of chances and being unlucky with his finish, and after a shocking first 20 mins, Ndombele found his feet and showed signs of what we will see...

...it was not the best for sure, but we are still finding our feet overall and Poch has not been able to pick from anything close to a full squad yet this season. I think we take the point and move on, knowing what we have to cut out and improving all areas of our game whilst acknowledging we have one more point in the CL than at this stage last season.

I've not seen the game so cant comment on team or player performance but feel in this game we needed a midfield player who could do a job in front of the back 4 like Dier or Wanyama none of our other players can do that role well. Was surprised by the moderation on here following letting a 2 goal lead slip away, had vision of an AFCTV rant.

Don’t remember Dembele winning much ball
His strength was keeping it and driving with it
And I think Wanyama did win loads of ball but lasted one season playing at our pace

There was a stat showing that Dembele's. dribbles, passes and ball winning were the highest in the team

Not sure we need a purely 'old school' defensive midfielder.
NDombele, Winks and Sissoko can do this and hopefully Dier to come in there also when fit.

Really annoyed with this draw ! Thought we would do enough to beat Olympiacos away in our first CL match of the season. But it is hard to accept being 2-0 up and still end up not winning ! This felt like a carbon copy of the Arsenal match in which we also led 2-0 but ended up drawing 2-2. Our lack of mental strength showed up yet again as we failed to defend a comfortable lead ! Pochettino has to take large part of the blame as he selected the wrong team. We should have started with the same team that beat Palace 4-0.

Credit to Kane and Moura for the goals. Kane did well to win the penalty and scoring it. Moura also scored a great long rang goal. We should have killed the game off wth the magical third goal. But instead, we didn't look like scoring apart from that. It was wrong to start with the out-of-form Eriksen and Alli. Eriksen didn't do anything of note whole match. Alli scored a goal but was ruled offside. Alli was also guilty of wasting a one-on-one chance which he should have scored or passed to Kane. After scoring against Palace, both Son and Lamela should have started this match. I think we would have won this match if both had started. Son didn't have much impact after coming on but Lamela had a shot saved by the goalie which he rightly tried himself instead of passing to Kane.

Our midfield had a poor match. Ndombele and Winks failed to control the midfield. Ndombele looked rusty and tired whole match. We should have started with Sissoko instead of Ndombele. Winks worked hard but also made too many errors. This match showed we need a reliable defensive midfielder like Wanyama. Maybe we should have started with Wanyama who was on the bench.

Our defence were poor for conceding 2 soft goals. It is no coincidence that we always fail to keep the clean sheet whenever the error-prone Sanchez is playing in defence. Our defence are only reliable when only Alderweireld and Vertonghen are playing. It is amazing how our defence instantly turns shaky when Sanchez is playing. Our defence were too slow to react for their first goal while it was a soft penalty conceded by Vertonghen.

We could have won this match comfortably if we had played the right players. I think Pochettino got complacent with his team selection. There was no need to rest players like Son and Lamela who did well against Palace. Well atleast we managed to draw this match 2-2 after losing to Olympiacos in our only previous away match there in the 1973 UEFA Cup. But we do need to improve our performance greatly when we play Bayern in the CL next.

Winks was the best player on the pitch

Agree. Half our starting outfield players were lacking match fitness. We lacked cohesion and tempo at times, but there were also positives and many of the players starting will hopefully benefit from the game time.

A point, somewhat disappointing, but alright overall in a fairly tough game.

Winks was the best player on the pitch

Bit of a stretch imo.

Going to be a lot of overreaction on this game but for me

- These type of away games in CL are never easy, Juventus gave up a 2-0 lead away with what 15 mins left?
- We looked dangerous with a very weird setup (Sanchez RB, N'dombele looked like he was playing wide)
- Stupid mistakes led to 2 goals, honestly the timing of their first hurt us, had we gone in 2-0 up at HT, game was dead.

The lesson here is same as it has been, our first 11 can do most teams, the rotation model still needs work (fit Dele, N'dombele, KWP will help)

Fact is, win home, don't lose away will be enough for getting out group stage.

I cursed him out of it for that but on the second replay they showed, I’m not sure it was an easy pass as there were two defenders between him and Kane and the one coming back would have intercepted the pass I think.
It looked to me as though a square ball across would've gone in front of both of those players, with Kane then very likely to get on the end of it.

Can anyone fathom why Poch picked Sanchez at right back again? He is probably the most limited player technically in the whole Spurs squad. Having Sanchez playing in what for us is actually a key position in terms of turning defence to attack is so detrimental to our game. IMO we can just about afford to hide Sanchez's limited technical ability away at centre half, but we cannot do that at right back.

Anyway a point away in Athens is actually a decent result. Obviously annoying after being 2-0 up, but that was rather against the run of play I thought as Olympiacos started the game quite well. I felt that last night we tended to get better as the game went on and I thought that we were the far more likely winners in the last 20 minutes or so.

Hopefully we go back to the same starting team that we had against Palace for the weekend game and produce a similar performance. At the present time Aurier, Rose, Sissoko and Son are better options to start than Sanchez, Davies, N'Dombele and Ali (I am largely ambivalent over which one of Lamela or Moura should start).

Or here are the stats by player, just for the 15/16 season. Sorted by number of tackles per appearance, with Moussa on top.

Not as high in 16/17, but still very similar to Wanyama (taking into account that Dembele's stats are worsened due to having more sub appearances).
