I have no issue with shutting down a game when it’s won, in fact I encourage it, but do it properly, play keep ball, dive, moan, tactical foul, fake injury, hold it in the corners etc etc.

Mourinho wanted Skrinar and bought Rondon. He has already identified the problem. We need a warrior at the back. He doesn't need to learn. He just needs time to fix it.

Look at all the teams that have won the PL in recent times. They have had at least one dominating CB - VDV, Kompany, Leicester's twin bulwarks, Terry, etc. Our weakness here is plain for all to see. This is the main reason we keep conceding from crosses where many of our goals against have stemmed from this season.

Agree BUT he is still learning that certain player combos don't work.
Aurier, Winks, Sissoko are not good together. Also he will have learnt re:subbing.

I can usually get over bad results quickly but i'm finding it really hard to shift the disappointment of this one. The two points lost, everyone laughing at us....so frustrating.

I was over it as soon as the game finished - find it hard to get too invested when not able to go to games/there are no crowds

Correct. But what happens to those that delete the past, yet remember the reason for the deletion?

We weren't actually that dominant. We were good, and clinical in the extreme to get to 3-0 (3 shots, 3 on target, 3 goals). After that we didn't do much. And West Ham were playing some decent football. If one cares about xG it was pretty close in this game.

Through a combination of being good and clinical/lucky we found ourselves 3-0 up. That was not a 3-0 first half the way I saw it. We were better, we deserved our lead, but most games that performance is a one or two goal lead at most.

Similarly West Ham didn't truly dominate, they didn't create enough chances to get 3 goals back on most days. But they were clinical/lucky enough to get them.

The way we responded to going 3-0 up isn't good enough. But it's a response you get away with 9 times out of 10 because 3 goals.

It's infuriating and of course we all fear it's a sign of things to come. It's even more frustrating having picked up only 2 points from 3 home games. It shows weakness. Mourinho and the players have their work cut out for them to make sure this doesn't happen again, to build on all the positives we've seen this season despite this disappointment.

The recent games highlight both how far we've come, but also the problems that remain.
This... very much a game of 3 thirds...

We struggle with dominating in the air, same story against Saudi Sportswashing Machine and the goals we conceded against these lot. Toby and Sanchez are not the type to do this, Dier perhaps a bit more so but still not perfect. I think anyone who has a big team with strong aerial ability will cause us problems at the back.

Definitely, it's panic stations whenever a cross comes in and I don't have that confident feeling it will be cleared like I used to. I don't think Dier is that great in the air either but he does seem to provide leadership which usually keeps others switched on and reduces silly mistakes. Very un Mourinho like and I'm sure he'll be working on it.

I actually think our mix of CBs isn't right, I don't think Sanchez and Toby are good enough to be starting for a team hoping for a title push. Hopefully Rodon can push on and get some games in, from what I hear he's tall, good in the air, comfortable in possession which is what we need.

Vertonghen was well past it by the time he left[/QUOT

Some of his last games were very good..He scored a winner for us in one game! yeah well past it....
Superjan could have played another season. 33 is surely not too old to give up playing at the top level as long as the preperation and fitness is right.

If you watched the documentary Jan basically says himself that he didn't think he was physically up to it anymore. The Wolves game in particular he got terrorised and he knew it. Holding on to past CBs is partially why we are in this difficulty with the position.

That's interesting. I'm just as invested as normal, since I very rarely get to games.
So I'm watching every game on my laptop and talking to you shidiots, same as always.
The lack of fans doesn't really affect my engagement at all.

I'm more invested in it when watching at home because I go online and post here afterwards which makes me more annoyed when we get a bad result, if I'm at a game then I'm over it instantly as I just go to the pub and forget it.

I’m more emotionally invested as at the ground I can’t really control things and that I’m part of the masses
At home I’m isolated and it feels so much more draining
