OMT: Spurs v Saudi Sportswashing Machine - Sonny's Farewell

I fully believe we will sign a 10.
But we have looked good with a more hardworking/ combative midfielder there i.e. Sarr and likewise Bergvall could do a decent job there.
I fully agree that in general the 10 is vital to supply throughballs and schemes and chances but sometimes I look at the front 3 and think they could do a lot more to help themselves and create chances themselves if they had a bit more guile.

Would be nice to get a playmaker but surely spending big on youth means Bergval gets to play while Kulu and Maddison are injured.
I think Bergvall has rather consistently looked better somewhat deeper (8 role) than as a 10 so far at least.

We have options and in theory Kulusevski and Maddison plus Bergvall/Odobert/Kudus/whoever. But it's more about the profile than where they can play. I really like Kulusevski, but he's not a playmaker type and he's not one to be trusted to drop deep to progress the ball.

We were so reliant on Maddison, that imo will continue unless we get an option at 10 or add more ball progression, passing and creativity deep.

With the signing of Palhinha it looks unlikely that we'll bring in another deep midfielder, we're stacked for options for the 8 role/more box to box deeper role.

The need for that option is only strengthened by similar shortcomings elsewhere (wide and at the back) in the squad.

If Maddison's injury is as bad as feared another playmaker style 10 is our biggest priority unless we can bring in a top class deep playmaker.
