Gutted , we should have been 3-0 up in the first half. Second half was rubbish....

Whey are out then , nomore Europe at the Lane this year :(
 
Subs made no impact really, agree they should have been given more time. Fiorentina got to grips with things 2nd half, that had as much to do with it as anything. They made us look much better in the 1st half by playing right into our hands.

Davies for me is looking like a bit of a weakness, in that he doesn't do enough going forward down the left flank. You can see why Rose is 1st choice right now.

We needed to punish them in that opening half an hour when they were all over the place, we didn't. Now we will find it tough to go through. On the plus side, we are decent away from home and score most of the time.
 
Well we are capable of getting a result in the 2nd leg, but in all honesty I just don't think we look strong enough to actually go on and win the whole thing.

Might as well play a similar team next Thursday to save some legs for the final. If they do the business all well and good, if we go out, we go out

I agree. the subs didnt help either. everything was disjointed and completely lacking fluidity.

anyone who genuinely thinks paulinho was good today seriously watched a different game. he was as abject as always. the past few weeks we've been attacking well and scoring against good sides: paulinho comes back into the middle of the park and we cant get to the edge of the opponents box again.

i still think we can do them in italy, but not if we dont play our better players. lamela's cameo was woeful today, really bad.

We are far from out of this. We are a better team and there is no doubt we can win in Italy. Should have put the game to bed in 1st half.
 
Never expected the 3 or 4 lead so not dissapointed. Could have been better but will take it.
Bentaleb MOTM for me, Soldado was good. Why oh why didn't we run at the defender after the early yellow? Instead we stood back and tried to show off.

Which we'll need several first team players to achieve. Three days before the cup final. What we needed today was a comfortable win, not a draw and an away goal for them.

Poch will have a serious headache before the return leg.

Yeah. Sorry. Today the negativity is winding me up a bit. I shall leave your good self to comment unharmed by my turgid attempts at jollity. I STILL believe we can get a result (I have some of Mikey Hazard's boundless optimism coursing through my veins).
 
After battering them for around half an hour (Eriksen and Chadli, twice, both had good chances to double our lead) that was a very disappointing 2nd half and scoreline to take to Fiorentina.

Hopefully the reserves can do a better job in the return leg so that we can avoid the risk of Kane and Eriksen potentially playing 120 minutes just 3 days before the League Cup final.

Pretty much agree with you there. One positive was Soldado's well taken goal, hopefully it will boost his confidence. Second positive after that turgid second half I put the beers away so I'll now have something to toast the good news tomorrow.

Play the best team tomorrow. Then play the best team on Sunday against Spam. After 9 days rest, they should be able to handle two games in 4 days, especially since no travel is involved.

Then I would field a rested best team in the LC final. Which means that for the return leg I'd send in the reserves. If we have gotten a good result in the first leg, then we should see ourselves through. But if we haven't gotten a good result in the first leg, I wouldn't send out the best team. I'd still send the reserves and hope they pull through. If we do make it through, I'd manage the ties the same way, depending on how much rest the squad has, as well as what PL games follow the ties.

Agree. We can still win in Italy, as long as Paulinho does not play.

I really don't see Poch starting Kane next Thursday, would be a big risk with Chelsea just 3 days later.

Hard to have a go at Lamela too much because he only had 15 minutes or so, but he was bad.
 
The empathy towards this does my head in! Far more likely way to get into the Champions League than through the extremely unlikely route of the league, and to be fair if we cant win it why do we even deserve to be in the Champions League....pointless exercise! So sloppy in the 2nd half, passing was shocking especially Lamela who was turgid when he came on!
