In the first 5 mins Richarlison broke down the left right up as far as their box, fed it inside to PEH who didn’t even look forward (to Kane and Son who’d bust a gut) and just popped it back to our centre back.

I would swap Danjuma for Richarlison and keep Kane back in midfield and see if he can do the Eriksen role feeding balls though/over the top for Son and Danjuma to chase

I wouldn’t disagree. They’re so high - would be good to have 2 pace outlets to threaten them.
It doesn’t help that we have nobody running from deep either. Both CMs rooted and Porro sitting on Royals lap for most of the half.

The plus point is at 0-1 we are still well in the game, we could have easily have been 3-0 down. Hopefully Mason has some harsh words, tweeks the format/tactics and we turn it around. A draw is not a disaster if you accept 4th/5th has gone and it is a fight for 6th

Agreed. But Son urgently needs to focus on getting his timing right first.He's been playing into Villa's high-line tactics all game.
Probably more likely that the players can't implement rather than disobeying his instruction.
