The main consolation for me, and it's more than just a consolation, is just how far we've come in (less than) a year. To be at a point now where its really only one position, arguably only one player, missing in the jigsaw is amazing.I agree but the only consolation I have here is that it's easier to teach bad defenders to defend than to teach bad attackers to create and score. And if there is one man in the world that can formulate a system that will concede less than you'd expect from its component parts it's Jose.
The other consolation I guess is that every other team is brick at centre back especially now VVD is long term injured.
Still a worry though.
A year ago it was a dumpster fire, disjointed, unbalanced squad, but with massively talented and even supreme quality individual players.
Now we've fixed so many positions and roles. Quality in so many positions, backups and alternatives, options, a standout bench in every game. We've fixed so many aspects of our game. Yes there is work left to be done. But the difference is astonishing.
