***OMT*** LEICESTER CITY Vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Surely we will have to include some youngsters on the bench. If Edwards is injured and others on international duty I am not sure what the options are. Amos, Walkes, Maghoma or Miller maybe?

Huth, Morgan and Drinkwater out, plus a few others

Harry should score a few in this game to get closer to the Golden Boot

3-3

Amos the most likely I would have thought, especially with the lack of CM options.

Can't see Dembele starting. This is what Poch said about him in the press conference

"Mousa Dembele hasn't started the last few games, is he fit?
He's struggling with his foot. We will see what happens now after Sunday. He needs to see a specialist. It's ok, but maybe not in his best interest to play 90 minutes.

Is it the same foot injury as before?
Yes, but he's being careful to stay available to help the team in the last few weeks. I want to say that we appreciate that a lot, it's very painful for him but he's trying to do his best to help the team in the last few weeks, try to achieve, first of all to try to arrive in the final of the FA Cup, then to win the Premier League and then in the end to be second in the table."

So Dier at RB, Eriksen in central midfield, Sissoko or N'Koudou in the 3 behind Kane?
Or Son at Right wing back?
Or Sissoko reinvented at a right wing back?

I do hope he does not pick a full strengthed team and gives the likes of N'Kodou and Jaansen a go.

Whichever journo it is asking questions around the 9 minute mark should be banned from future briefings. He's an idiot who doesn't listen to instructions or Poch's weekly response which is that he doesn't want to speak about rumours.

I'd be giving Dembele a serious break to recover from this foot injury, sounds dangerous to be playing in pain.

Knowing our medical department he could require surgery in early August at this rate.

Isn't it the job of a journalist to probe and question in the hope the interviewee might slip and reveal something? Or to provoke a reaction? OK, a football pre-match press conference is not quite on the same level as questionning a political leader. But the journalists are there to get enough copy to write a few articles and keep their employer's readers (and their advertisers) happy. I agree it's tedious to listen to (but how many people actually listen to the full press conference?) and pointless with Poch. But they have a job to do and tbh I'd find it odd if there had not been a question about Walker. Poch can refuse to answer any question, but no one should be banned for asking.
Was it the same journo who asked Poch whether he has a buy-out clause in his contract? That got an emphatic "no"". And asked about the rumours of Inter Milan being interested in bringing Poch in? That also got a definite "I am staying here" answer.

Or he could ask about the finer points of Poch's philosophy and tactics, and educate his viewers/readers? Mind you, he'd need to know about football to do that.

Well, ideally, yes, that should be there as well. But "Poch ponders deploying new formation/tactics against Leicester" is not going to get as many clicks as "Poch unable to answer question about Dele's future".
Unfortunately.

We have confirmed our 2nd place in the league and so have nothing left to play for this season. But still want us to take the remaining matches seriously and win both the matches. For one, we badly need to beat Leicester who beat us to the league title last season. Remember, we single-handedly transformed and inspired Leicester from a relegation threatened team in 2015 into becoming the PL champions last season. So we badly need to make amends for that by beating them for once ! Our away form have been so poor this season that it destroyed our league title chance when we lost to West Ham in our last away match. So, we need to end this season by winning both the remaining away matches. It will send a huge message to other teams if we can finish the season with 86 points. Remember, only 3 teams have achieved 86 points or more and not win the league title in the PL era : ManU(88pts) in 1995, Liverpool(86) in 2009 and ManU(89) in 2012. So, want us to become the 3rd best runners up in the PL history by reaching 86 points.

I think our key players like Kane and Alli have their own mission to achieve in the remaining 2 matches. Kane is now on 22 league goals which is 1 goal behind Sanchez(23) and 2 goals behind Lukaku(24). After becoming last season's top scorer with 25 goals, want Kane to at least reach the 25 goal mark even if he was affected by injury problems this season. It will boost his confidence even more if Kane can become the league's top scorer for the 2nd consecutive season. Similiarly, Alli is now on 17 league goals. Want him to reach 20 league goals as well. It has been a long time since we had 2 players with atleast 20 league goals. Hope both can score in this match and against Hull as well.

Too bad we didn't have our best midfield for most of the season with the likes of Dembele and Lamela being injury-prone. I am sure we would have done much better in away matches if we had both of them playing regularly. Wish Dembele can play both the remaining matches. But with him still not fully fit, won't be surprised if he doesn't start though. Wanyama did well to score the crucial goal against ManU, his 3rd league goal of the season. He is actually our 5th highest goal scorer in the league, behind only Kane, Alli, Son and Eriksen. This is something Wanyama as the defensive midfielder can be proud of but something which our attacking players like Janssen(2), Dembele(1) and Sissoko(0) can be embarassed about. Let's hope Janssen and Dembele, if they play, will get fired up just to score more goals than Wanyama in the remaining matches.

Our defence have done well for most of the season. In fact, we still have the best defensive record in the league. But it was disappointing to concede the goal to ManU the way we did last week. It shows, we need to be alert against all the teams and all the time. We need to do all we can to avoid the sort of poor defensive display against Saudi Sportswashing Machine last season in which we lost 1-5. Hope Lloris, Vertonghen and Alderweireld will be back to their best in the remaining matches. Despite our poor away form this season, we still have the best defensive record in away matches. Will be disappointing if we don't keep the clean sheet in this match.

We badly need to beat Leicester just to take revenge on them for losing out in the league title race last season. Can see Leicester being fired up against us just to prove a thing or two as well. Hope we will turn up with the right team and mentality to beat them to finish the season strongly.
