Oliver Skipp

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte's hopes of having Oliver Skipp back in contention this weekend are all but over, with the midfielder still yet to return to first-team training.

Before the international break, the Spurs head coach said he was hopeful Skipp could be ready to face Saudi Sportswashing Machine following a long-term groin injury, but the England Under-21 midfielder is continuing to work individually and rest.

Skipp has not played since late January and his return to fitness has been complicated by an infection, caused by an injection.

His situation is considered the result of playing so much football over the past 18 months, having been a regular on loan at Norwich last season before breaking into the Spurs first team on his return to his parent club. It is not clear when he will be able to return to training, having been advised by a specialist to rest.

Infection caused by an injection....
Have we overplayed him? I doubt...

He has osteitis pubis, it causes inflamation of the pelvis. Caused by over use of the hip and leg muscles. Meant to be very painful and is treated with rest of between 3-6 months.

Dunno why the injection. Either painkiller or misdiagnosis at first? Might be why conte was a bit curt when talking about the medical team.

Evening Standard reporting that he felt pain again when training alone yesterday.

Think we should now send him home to rest until mid July and only cut that short if we suffer an injury crisis in central midfield.

Its a great shame as peh is still shaky - he did 3 or 4 stupid things against newc and skipp and bentancur would be rock solid.

Hopefully one of the two lwb’s are ready for the weekend.

You can't send a player home to rest and then expect him to step in during an injury crisis. A certain way for him to get a new injury.
