The Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has been found guilty of tax fraud and sentenced to four years in prison for tax evasion.

Berlusconi has also been banned from holding public office for three years in a case involving the acquisition of film and television rights on behalf of Mediaset, the broadcaster he controls. The former Italian prime minister, who has denied wrongdoing, is expected to appeal.

Berlusconi was accused of buying US film rights at inflated prices via offshore companies. Prosecutors alleged part of the money declared for the purchase of film rights was skimmed off to create illegal slush funds, reducing Mediaset's tax liabilities.

Over the past 15 years, Berlusconi has faced criminal investigations, indictments and trials on charges ranging from false accounting to corruption. He has always denied the charges. In some cases, he was acquitted at trial. In others, he either wasn't charged, or the charges were dropped because the statute of limitations on the alleged crimes expired.

What Wenger says is almost true. The goals in any season will be winning the PL and CL, qualifying for the CL, and then winning a cup. The only silly bit is pretending that qualifying for the CL is the same as winning a trophy. I suppose it is difficult to say that qualifying for the CL and winning nothing is better than winning a cup and missing out on the CL.

Is it ticky tacky, tippy tappy or ticky tacker? I've heard all three words used to describe Arsenal's style of play. Can't we just use one term?

For the long term stability and progress of a club I think CL football is more important than a cup win. Especially in the situation Arsenal have been in with the debt to pay off after building a stadium.

Agree with this completely. We haven't won the FA Cup in over 20 years. Portsmouth won it recently. Unfortunately money and European prestige is what makes a club successful over a longer period of time. The revenue and kudos generated by the Champion's League simply dwarves that of the FA or League Cup.

i get the logic behind it, however id rather look back on say a ten year period and see 10 cup wins (Europa/FA & League Cups) than having just competed in the Champions League ever year - and that's what it's all about really

the point of being in the CL every season is so you can build a team capable of winning trophies - just being in it making up the numbers is not the goal and if it is then it's a somewhat pathetic one
