Because the club has no backbone. No winning mentality. No core strength. 41 year old keeper, mid-30's CB, no dominant creative midfielder and the wrong sort of striker for a two winger game.

it feels worse because it was west brom at home. the only player who wasnt available was Parker. Sandro and Livermore dont offer enough ball retention to be considered a long term midfield partnership.
Put Modric in the side today and we'd have been fine. If we could have scored an early goal we'd also have been fine. Modric must be repaced. Its imperative.

I completely disagree with this. We weren't entitled to anything and shouldn't have been 3 up because we weren't. Didn't look like scoring 1 let alone 3 by half time. They were excellent to come back into the game second half, and their changes had a major positive impact. Not sure ours particularly did.

They were much, much better in the last 30 than we were in the first 30. They ran our defence ragged, Gallas was awful against Lukaku. we were getting beaten by even the simplest long balls

I saw the first half. We didnt really test Foster despite looking dangerous. They had at least 5 golden opportunites compared to our, well, none.

Look at when we save on the line seconds before the goal. A keeper that's not 41 years old would claim that ball all day long. Nothing against Brad, but unfortunately he started to show his age a bit last year, and he isn't exactly getting any younger.
Not blaming him for the loss though. We looked extremely complacent after our goal, perhaps having tired too much from the heavy rain? But these are the games that have always cost us points in years past, nevermind who's managing or playing...

Why don't you actually have an ounce of intelligence about you and explain exactly what went wrong; personlly it was playing defoe for an hour when we completely dominated and having nothing to come on to go back to 451. To do with transfers.

Disappointing game. Looked pretty solid for around 50-60 minutes never in danger. Went for the goal with the attacking change and got it but as soon as the changes were made we lost all structure and control of the game. Lukaku caused alot of problems when he came on but it doesnt explain the complete loss of control of the game. Its apparent when it comes to holding on to leads we still have a lot of work to do. Hopefully we can get a few players in this week. Need to ensure that we get a couple of wins in our next few games to set us up for the year.

I don't agree, we've had plenty of flat performances with Modric on the field as well.
So all it takes is Ade to take a knock and we'll be watching that week in week out, until Defoe gets injured then we've got Kane. But it's okay as we only need three strikers. Even if we scraped the 1 - 0 win I wouldn't be happy, playing Defoe as a lone forward is a complete waste of time and it's scary that we were doing so for the Saudi Sportswashing Machine game as well as 60 minutes of todays game. Very scary.

We had 1 shot on target, which was Defoe right down Fosters throat. Fluffed a couple volleys but West Brom had 3 cleared off the line.

Ade hasn't had much of a pre-season. Unfortunately AVB (whatever one might think about his changes and the capitualation in system in 2nd half) has been left with limited options, and less depth than we'd hope to have by now. Critical week coming up because 1st half there was enough to say we can progress and build a very good team. It is inevitable, however, that finishing 4th last year combined with AVB's time at chelsea will raise concerns and negative attention at how things went in that 2nd half.
