Re: Brad Friedel

I like Lloris and think he's been good lately BUT he didn't make the save on a saveable ball for the first goal and cost us one.. I am convinced Freidel would have saved that goal.

Sorry, I cannot agree. Lloris came for the ball, screamed for it. Caulker didn't pay attention. How on earth you can deduce that Lloris 'cost us one' is...well, actually, I think I know how you could, but fair enough, opinions and all that...:)

Re: Brad Friedel

Ultimately swapping behind Friedel and Lloris is unsettling our defence.
Friedel likes to stay on his line and Lloris likes to come for it.
Our defence can't get used to playing with one style keeper one game and another in the next.
Lloris's backup needs to be a similar style keeper to Lloris so that we don't end up conceded silly goals like yesterdays.

Is he not talking about the actual header from Pienaar? That to me like Hansen said on MOTD looked saveable....

Re: Brad Friedel

I think its about time we stopped saying stuff like 'Friedel would have saved X' or 'Lloris would have saved Y' (I have been guilty of this once or twice). We have Lloris and stick by him - I have been impressed by him particularly with his skill and ability to come rushing out - for examples yesterday.

All this is a bit like getting a new girlfriend and comparing her in bed to your old girlfriend - both different keepers both with various strengths and weaknesses however Lloris is obviously the future.

Indeed but if you're still seeing both of them at the same time, you will fudge up and say the wrong name mid-act like Caulker did yesterday.

Re: Brad Friedel

We need to stop this pointless shuffle - and instead aim to improve consistency and communication amongst the Back 4.

Only then perhaps errors such as Caulker/Lloris' yesterday would be reduced and hopefully eliminted all together.

It won't happen with a new keeper every week

It seems that Lloris is now first choice doesn't it?

Had Lloris been made first choice from the first game he was available and Gallas or Caulker (for example) made mistakes I think at least some people would have been saying that AVB should have stuck with Friedel for a while and let the lads get a chance to work with Lloris on the training ground before he was made first choice.

I'm surprised at Hansen. I'd have liked a goalie to talk people through that goal from the moment Lloris comes off his line and screams for the ball which is not left for him...from that second, everything is 'catch-up' including Lloris's position. he scrambled back fast to try and re-set, but ultimately, he was slightly off balance for the header (which was also a weird one, not authoritative, more of a soft bouncer)...he usually comes for crosses like that and claims them, but again, due to scrambling back it just didn't happen. IMO.

Tweet from Friedel:

I know there has been quite a lot of speculation regarding my future. All will be revealed in the next couple of days :). Happy Holidays!!!

Re: Brad Friedel

Yes, he should realise that if Lloris gets injured then he's very important to the team, I imagine he also has Europa and FA cup games to look forward to next year but because he's not #1 anymore he wants out? When there were rumours of Lloris being unhappy with being #2, there were many fans claiming he should shut up and earn his spot, but it's ok for Friedel to bail?

I'm disappointed with him if he's requested to leave the club, what happened to his attitude of doing the best job he can with whatever role he's asked to do?

Re: Brad Friedel

My original post was perfectly reasonable?

What do you want me to say? Thanks a lot Brad, you've been a great player, best of luck? Well sorry, no, I want what is best for Tottenham Hotspur, not what is best for Brad Friedel. What's best for Tottenham Hotspur is having a quality 2nd choice goalkeeper. If Friedel goes, Lloris gets injured and Cudicini comes in and costs us a bunch of goals then that's just fudging great isn't it.

Re: Brad Friedel

This is the guy that just asked me no more than an hour ago what my problem with Lloris is:ross:

hypothetically, how would you feel if Adebayor requested a transfer if he was dropped for a run of games if we signed a new striker in Jan?

not saying i agree with Rossi, but don't think it's entirely unreasonable to be tinkled off if Brads reaction to being replaced is to ask for a transfer

although i don't think him requesting a trnsfer would be a simple of case "Im not playing so i want out" kind of deal
