Booked to see The Equalizer tomorrow night...something tells me it could a lot different from Edward Woodward

Looking forward to this one

So I watched Robocop 2014 edition last night.

Robocop 1980's version is one of my favourite films.

I give the 2014 version a solid 2/10. If the first Robocop hadn't existed, it could probably be a 5, 6 maybe, but it gets graded down. Robocop is a near perfect action/crime movie satire. It's like they took out all the good bits, added some shiny bits and made a new movie.

For example:
- I didn't get why Michael Keaton was a bad guy. Not like dingdong Jones anyway. dingdong was in cahoots with Clarence Bodingdonger. dingdong was evil. Batman just seemed like a business guy and a pretty reasonable one. The whole thing about him attempting to "murder" Murphy? I didn't get it - unless they wanted to go down the path of whether Murphy is a machine or a human and whether shutting him down is murder. But that didn't do that. So, no real villain in the movie.

- the bad criminal guy. Robocop 1 had Clarence who was plain evil. And Detroit city was just ****ed up. In the new version, we hardly saw the main bad guy (Antoine something or rather). And he just got shot in a hit out. Nothing else, no show down, nothing. Bang you're dead.

- Samuel L Jackson's character and interludes were just boring and lame.

- It was just too clean. Where was the attempted rapist being shot in the groin? The acid soaked bad guy getting smashed. ED209 going boonta on an innocent. I was waiting at the start for one of the EDs to lay into that Middle-Eastern kid, but nothing. You never got a sense of Detroit being that bad crimewise, and the ED209s being these warped killing machines that no one can control.

- and Omar was just wasted. Didn't whistle or carry a shotgun. Amateurs.

Need to watch the proper Robocop again just to restore the balance in my mind.

Yeah, I don't get why you would make a PG-13 Robocop film asides from the money obviously, the original was as violent as films get. Won't even bother watching the new one.

Lets be honest the first was glorified b-movie ****e which we look back at with misty eyed nostalgia - loved it as a ten year old sneakily watching it without permission but had i been older i probably would have forgot i had seen it by now

Wash your mouth out. One of the finest action movies of any era.

I can see how one would think that but one would be wrong. Robocop is damn near perfect and full of philosophical questions. Should be a compulsory part of the curriculum in religious studies.

Not Robocop, but I was thinking the same thing about 47 Ronin when we watched it at the weekend. It was a good film but could have been so much better if it was an 18 rather than a 12 so they could be a bit more visceral with the violence/themes. It was good because our 10yr old could watch it (and enjoyed it) but the first thing my wife said was "Tarantino would have made that film amazing".

The Equalizer - 8/10 Decent action film, for me just let itself down by going a bit too OTT. Over two hours long but didnt really feel like it/
Oh and yes, Chloe Moretz is really starting to blossom now

Just watched Begin Again with Keira Knightley and Mark Rufallo (who I like). Was a decent feel good movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Beats all the depressing ****e out there at the moment.

rufallo is absolutely superb. What's the film about?

Also TMNT and Hercules too, I may not be watching those hahaha

Anybody seen Fury yet ??

I may go see it on tuesday night

I watched Fury last night. I liked it. I enjoyed the gripping reality of the war, focusing on the crew of the tank,The Fury. I'm not a big fan of Shia LeBeouf, but his role seemed limited which was pleasing. I think that rookie Logan Lerman may well have a decent career ahead of him as he gave a strong performance in his role of a shy, trying to do the right thing, soldier. When the film ends, I did though wonder what the point of the film was, other than perhaps just to show the workings of the team. I half expected an end goal but don't really believe that they really reached a worthy conclusion. I might have missed something though as went to the cinema having drank a good number of beers first. :D

I watched Gone Girl tonight, that was the better film of the two. Rosamund Pike was particularly strong with his performance. I would definitely recommend going to see Gone Girl if you're a fan of Fincher directed movies, or well if you like dark thrillers.

Retract the above. You have 15 seconds to comply.

We went to see it last night. Had the potential to be a brilliant film. but I dont know about you but I just feel a little disappointed with how it ended

Great film quite long though, though haven't read the book so interesting to know if it mirrors it quite well. Emily Ratajkowski has a great top half reminds me of mila kunis.
