Supposedly had the choice of Roma and Besiktas but wanted to stay in London. Not sure what's happened with him to have fallen out of favour. For me even if wanted to give Rose a chance that's fine, but would have thought Ekotto would have had a role to play in the squad still.

Right...so if a Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool had come in for him, he'd have stayed in London? Even someone like Everton or Villa?

If that is true, then it says enough. I understand why he's a cult hero but he's been a weak link for a long time.

Isn't it a loan? He's apparently been close to moves in France but failed medicals - this could just be a simple stop gap until next summer

I like Benny and think he is a far better FB than Rose at present, however during our Wembley semi final embarrassment against Chelsea I was sitting next to a mate who is an FA coach and who is involved with various England teams at present, he did nothing but laugh at Benny throughout the game and pointed out lots of his faults he said Benny is a liability and we should get rid asap.

Fa coaches have generally better knowledge than anyone who plays football professionally too don't they.....

Everton have Leighton Baines. Villa just signed that spanish left back. Man Utd have Evra and were going for Coentrao. Arsenal have Gibbs and Monreal, Liverpool have Enrique. So all those clubs have left backs already and don't need to buy Ekotto.

Christ, that's damning with faint praise. In my lifetime, our left backs have been Van den Hauwe, Edinburgh, Tremezzani, Thatcher, Ziege, Edman, Atouba, Lee. Out of that I'll grant you, he's better than all bar Ziege.

Rose isn't great but he isn't awful either.

He took Platt and Pearce for their coaching badges, he actually put Pearce on the phone to me while they were in a students union bar! he took training for the full England team once and he said That Lennon would pull out of playing if he broke a finger nail !

Exactly, all those clubs have left backs that are better than BAE. What about Fulham then for example? Based in London, Premiership side with an ageing left back who fell out with the manager last year? West Brom? Palace? Norwich? West Ham?

Incidentally, Moyes has clearly been trying to upgrade his left back in the window. Doubt the initials BAE even crossed his mind.

Fact is, outside of Tottenham fans, BAE isn't rated. Most neurals I talk to highlight him as a weak link. He's entertaining but he's always on the verge of a major blunder.

I think people are rating him through his personality off the pitch rather than quality on it. On his day he is very good but more often than not he has off days. He would always walk back when the other team had passed him on the attack. Poor player and we can do alot better.

Never rated BAE highly but still find it surprising we let him go out on loan. He must have upset AVB during training by his carefree attitude.
