O/T Capello Resigns / New England Manager Speculation Thread

you have written off the other managers because they haven't won anything and aren't big names, saying what player will want to sign for them - Harry is not a big name and has one trophy to his name and spent most his career in mid table/relegation battles - yet he has signed some big players for us as well as getting the team playing better than a lot of people could have done and commands the respect of the squad - Redknapp proves that you do not need a big name manager to do well

But we are at this stage now so we need to progress with a proven manager, Not to jeopardise it with a manager that hasn't achieved anything. If we get a manager that hasn't achieved anything the players will be jumping ship.

Gutted but understanding.

1) I really don't think he'd leave us midseason, and I can't see the FA waiting 'til our season is over to employ a new manager

2) Why on earth would anyone want the England job? It's like taking the reigns at Blackburn and being told that you're expected to win the league with no money.

This. He should probably be taken in for psychological testing.

Roy Keane on Rooney's comments:

"Wayne should keep his nose out of it, he didn't do enough on the pitch when Capello was manager."

Which is nice, but the second part is total gonads

Been brick for England.......got sent off in a big match......nah, I make Keane right on both counts!

Absofudginglutely!!!!!

Scum fans, Liverpool, Man Utd, Cheski etc are all rubbing their hands.

Rooney calling for him is a fudging joke.....we are 5 points behind them clams and play them at the lane soon!!!!

In all honesty I don't think Harry is the be all and end all, another manager could do as good a job, not that I don't think he has been great and I want him at the lane!!!!

Agreed, it's completely disrespectful, and it's not just that neanderthal Rooney who's saying it.

doesn't work like that with managers - if they want out you agree compensation and move on - only an idiot would hold a manager against his will

Yeah, no denying that. I just hate this situation which is out of everyone's control apart from Harry's.

The guy nearly cried today talking about us supporting him. If he wants to leave to go to England how can we hate him for it. Clutching at straws is I.

Rooney has been crap in major tournaments. He's also gotten himself sent off twice needlessley.

The Sherwood talk has been around before.

He is highly regarded within the club - a lot higher than Bond and Jordan apparently.

The talk was that Sherwood should be head coach - and then a new dof would be appointed.

But remember; it was only a rumour.

I was told it by a certain ex payers or two last year at the stoke game whils I was in the 125 lounge and I was also told it by a guy from the architects who appeared to be well connected at the club and also a couple of guys I know who are close to our commercial director.

He is at every game and tells Harry what he sees from his normall higher position in the gound. Harry then uses that in his half time plans.... I've seen that first hand several times and was chatting to sherwood very briefly at Villa for eh one all game but he had to go at 40 minutes not the first half to catch harry

hahaha "Likes Car Windows"

that one was bloddy well made... =D>:ross:

Would Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea have a part time manager??

No.

Harry - 100% Spurs focus and then you can do one in the summer old boy, that is the deal I fully expect Levy to confirm tomorrow in a press release.

Daniel will be LOVING this

You're factually wrong. Guus Hiddink had the Chelsea and Russia jobs at the same time. He did brilliantly for them "part time".

By "do one in the summer" what do you mean? He can sign for England now and start the job after the final whistle on the final day of the season? Or that he will be free to leave if the England job is still available in the summer?

im sorry i just don't buy in to the 'we have to get a big name' thing

our big players are on long contracts and they will go when we want them to go.

im not against a big name manager - provided he is the right one, but there are definitely candidates in this country that id be happy with- the names mentioned in the first post you replied to for example.

Any business with the FA will be done in May, not a second before.

Harry WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES come out and state he wants the job with us in 3rd place and after having supported him all the way during his case.

Cretin wouldn't even be close to covering it!!!

We need a winner - plain and simple. I dont see any candidates in this country who are proven winners. We have one hell of a platform and will be a very attractive proposition for a top manager who has won things. Similar to how Man C got Mancini...we need to get someone who has won trophies and we should be able to get a top manager

i don't think anyone is suggesting that would be the case ?

most people knew this day would come when he took charge, it's happened earlier than we thought.

i still don't think its a full drawn conclusion - he would be giving up his last chance to have a proper crack at the Premiership title (next season im talking about here) i think he will stay with Spurs tbh
