I want a manager to build something long term at Spurs.
Van Gaal will fall out with everyone within two seasons.
ALl over the press today about LVG to United in the summer
a bunch on random points
1) Moyes will be given time I dont think we have to worry about a vacancy at UTD this summer
2) If TS and Moyes are given another season then we could be competing for managers a summer later
3) Ive always wanted TS for at least 2 seasons I believe he has what it takes (no manager in his first ever season sets the world alight so he clearly has potential) but im warming to the idea of LVG not because I think he will do any better but the name will raise our stature further so if/when LVG does leave we will be in a better position than before he came. He could be that move that made all the difference for years to come. Ther may never be an opportunity like this again to get somebody with such a name/experience. This together with the fact TS might not work out in a years time we will be left with knobody - I think we should take the plunge with LVG him for those 2 reasons only if nothing else. TS doesnt deserve the sack by any stretch but I think LVG is too good to turn down.
4) A major summer signing is also more likely with LVG than TS. I personally am waiting for Jackson Martinez, Benteke, a new left back and maybe another centre back. LLoris and Vert may also be likely to stay.
**** it ive convinced myself. I want LVG!
After today I'm starting to think anyone, just someone soon.
Luckily Levy disagrees with you.
That last thing we need is a desperation "anyone" manager signing. Sherwood is doing fine for now, options will open up in the summer if we want to go for them that are nowhere near available now.
I think Timmeh's had his audition and fluffed his lines. If we're working on the "let's give it a go" basis that Timmeh seems to have been employed on, then we should probably take the opportunity to give Freund a bash. Or Ramsey. Or one of Levy's sons....
The way I see it:
AVB made his position at the club impossible, we got rid. In December all of Levy's and Baldini's top targets were unavailable so we gave a highly rated internal guy a chance until the summer at least. Then we reevaluate, see who's available and how Sherwood has performed.
No need to panic.
More names to throw into the hat: Thomas Tuchel, Lucien Favre. Any takers?
I think we're all expective to see either LvG or FdB on the touch line next season aren't we.
The biggest potential issue with keeping TS beyond summer is Levy's history -> We buy TS's players, back the guy, he has a poor start to next season and we fire him in October and **** another season.
Based on that, if there is any doubt in TS (to me it's obvious there is), and we have a legitimate candidate, we should make the change as early as possible in summer.
There is also a legitimate case if we drop out of Europa and/or have a particularly bad March to fire TS (if and only if replacement will do a pre-sign, e.g. LVG), put Freund as caretaker and let the players know who the replacement is coming (and he is watching their performances)
