His record at chelsea was poor but he did inherit a disruptive dressing room.
 
It's very difficult to form a solid opinion on such a young manager, given the lack of history and data.

It's not entirely impossible that he grew a little too big for his own shoes when he joined Chelsea and that he's to blame for their poor form. Having said that, it's just as possible that his quick exit acted like a reality check. I guess we'll see soon enough.

I haven't seen much of his Porto team but even that success doesn't mean much since they're a special club. Going for young manager is always going to be a gamble compared to someone with a proven track record like Benitez or Deschamps but, given the recent rumours, that's obviously the direction Levy wanted to take.

It still takes a special manager to take a special club the whole League season unbeaten. Fergie is a 'special' manager, yet that's not something he's ever been able to do, even with some very special Man United teams.

You're correct about Ferguson but you have to admit that level of competition in Portugal can't be compared with what you find in the Premier League. In Croatia, a couple of nobodies were crowned champions with Dinamo as early as March but that says a lot more about the level of opposition than it does about themselves, in my opinion.

Winning the UEFA Cup seems more impressive to me but people were perhaps a little too quick to praise him for that. Juande Ramos won that competition two years in a row (albeit with a bigger club) and yet he's not legend material, is he?

I'm not saying Villas-Boas will or won't do well - I've given up on predictions a long time ago - I'm just slightly surprised to find that so many people have such divided opinions about a guy younger than me who hardly has 200 games in management.

Find it strange there has been no response from any Spurs players regarding Redknapp and the potential new manager. They must have been ordered not to say anything. Wonder if there is any truth in the media report about a few players not happy about AVB signing.
 
Why would they say anything before having something of substance to say?

They arent obliged to run a twitter commentary on every behind the scenes conversation / move / approach are they?

I would say the fact they havent spoken out speaks volumes. The press have been widely reporting AVB as a done deal, if that wasnt true either he or we would have denied it IMO.
 
tbh i'm still clinging on to the very slight chance it's not going to happen. My fear is that my faint hope will be gone today so i'm still in the denial stage right now.
