with regards to the pitch - i thought we had some hybrid half grass half synthetic type turn out ? and that we use some kind of elaborate grow kit to mimic sun light in order for it to grow ?

im sure i saw a pitch side interview with someone and they had a lighting rig set up

Great description of a match day experience at the Bernabeu.

I disagree with your statement about airflow and lighting being nonsense though.

Real have had pitch problems in the past, similar to the San Siro ones. I'm sure the Milan clubs have quite a bit of money, equipment and can affort skillful staff, yet their pitch problems have been pretty consistent. There's also a slight climatic difference between Madrid and London, just because something works in Madrid doesn't mean the same thing will work in London.

Isn't it Ajax who have the system where they actually move the entire pitch outside the stadium to let it get sun and air? Surely they don't do that just for the fun of it?

Schalke and Vitesse Arnhem can roll their pitches out of the stadium if the arena is used for other things. They both have retractable roofs.

San Siro and Amsterdam Arena are the most notorious when it comes to pitch quality. The pitch is relaid several times each season at both stadiums, at a cost of around €200K each time.

I had 5 excellent seats as season tickets in the Paxton, top row of the bottom tier, they were those blue leather type seats, after having them for nearly 10 years the club moved about 30 of us to open another hospitality lounge, so we had to move seats.
 
I'm surprised that the Santiago Bernabeu only holds 5,000 more than the San Siro. Looks massive to me, tiers upon tiers.

i dunno what i actually thought you meant first of all - just with the picture of an empty stadium which looks like a non match day i thought there was more to it than that - did they let you come in and choose what seats you wanted ?

San Siro is pretty massive too. There's even room to increase the number of seats if they decide to fill in the gap.

Good seat, I've sat up there a few times and the atmosphere is really good there, seems to echo around the corner and sounds extremely loud.

Me too. You been on the tour mate? Well worth going on and its only ?ú10-15, an absolute bargain compared to some things these days. You get to see a lot more than I imagined you would, go in changing rooms, directors box. Got to see in Levys office, his carpet is ?ú2,000 a SQ FT, wouldnt mind sitting in there with a post game whisky.

Highlight is getting to sit in Arrys chair, you wouldnt believe how comfortable it is. Weird thing is you can barely see the pitch from there.
