Well, he has started both Cisse and Big Ba for their last 9 consecutive games bar Arsenal so I'd maintain my original stance of 2 men upfront.

My last post, as we're arguing different things! Yes Cisse and Ba have both started, so yes he is playing two strikers. But he has swapped their shape around:

Last game > 4-4-2 > http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/507086/Live
Previous 2 games > 4-5-1 / 4-3-3- > http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/507052/Live AND http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/506990/Live

Well you are wrong, believe me, I've been at most of these games.

We were 442 against Bolton but before that we have been playing 433 starting with Ba left, Ben Arfa right with Cisse up top but Ba and Cisse would swap a good few times with Ba having a go through the middle and Cisse moving to the left.

Ba has actually played a fair bit of his football on the flank, he often played out there for West Ham when they went down.

To think that because we have Ba and Cisse on the pitch means we are playing 442 is very naive.

No. Apart from this year, Pardew has never really impressed me as a manager. Let's see how they do next year, I can't see them doing as well. Perhaps this year's success is because they are unknown quantities, and next year they may be found out?

Teams normally get found out in the return games second half of the season. The fact is Pardew bought well in January something Rednapp has failed to do since hes been with us, a decent forward would have seen us push on instead we got Saha and Neilson..Average at best.

People overlooking the fact that Pardew's teams play rubbish football for the most part. Improved a bit recently, but most of his teams are very direct.

The Guardian Podcast said that Ba is getting seriously cheesed off at not being used as a target man, well they cited his reaction to being substituted recently anyway.

Code:
                                                   Krul

Simpson Williamson Coloccini Santon/Perch

                        Tiote Cabaye Gutierrez/Guthrie

         Ben Arfa Ba

                                                  Cisse

Is how they've lined up recently.

I wonder why Ba and Cisse aren't being played together? They seem like a devastating pairing. There must be something going on behind the scenes...tactical incompatibility, or lack of work rate, or something.

To compensate for Ben Arfa being on the right. Pardew doesn't think he offers enough defensively to stick with 442 but with him playing so well he had to make a space for him.

Sometimes, but sometimes teams have a one off, great season, which seems to be where the Barcodes are heading.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine rightly will be top 10, but don't see them challenging for CL next year (nor do I believe they really are this year, much like we were never really challenging for the title).

Pardew just seems to be right man, right time, right team, but nothing historically suggests he will keep it going.

Keep underestimating us, just how we like it.

We're level on points with you with 5 games to go, we're in great form and you're in shocking form.

Granted we have a tougher run in but we are certainly challenging, believe me.

Didn't you leave for good?

Not always, form and momentum and confidence can often sustain a team at a higher level for a whole year. That's why it's called second-season syndrome, not second-half-of-the-season syndrome. You could argue that Pardew got a bit lucky too. Who here had heard of Patinkle Cisse before he joined? Would you have been happy had we signed him in January? I'm sure most fans would have derided his signing as a lack of ambition at the time. As it turns out he's hit the ground running and been a sensation. I'm sure we tried to sign better quality players than those we did get, but either the players we wanted weren't available for the money we had to spend, or simply did not want to join.
