Nelson Oliveira

I don't know much about him but we could do with 4 strikers imo and one of them should include a young prospect we can nurture.

You don't need 4 strikers when we're only going to play one up top. 2 + a kid is ample. Or even 2 + a wide forward who can play CF in an emergency (i.e. Dempsey) is fine.

Wonder if Coulthirst is nearly close to being promoted to the prospect role yet?

Dempsey is listed as a striker on the OS.

I think we will get one striker in and one striker will leave and I will be happy with that. I would prefer Defoe to go for maybe £7 mill and Ade to stay but there is gossip about a move to Turkey.

Scoring goals was not a problem for us last term (just shy of 100 scored and that was with Ade not fit or away for the African Cup.)

Personally, I think we've still got a wing forward, a 'marquee' striker and a younger striker to go before our window's done. Then we have marquee striker + young striker + Defoe + Dempsey as our forward line, which is good for almost any eventuality.

I would say scoring goals was a huge problem last season, in particular scoring the first goal to break the deadlock. I lost count of the amount of times we went in at half time 0-0.

We scored an average of about 2 goals a game? Something like that.

What we did not do is hammer many sides like Liverpool do. We scored our EPL record of goals away from home?

Just checked..our last 10 games average of 2 goals a game..scored 3 once.

I know this will not go down too well but I think if Obika started believing in himself more he could become the young (ish) striker for the bench.

Never heard of him. But I've not seen a good Portuguese striker in donkey's years, they're all cack aren't they?

I thought Baldini would just whip out a list of the best strikers in Argentina Brazil Venezuela Mexico Uruguay Colombia Peru and Chile and give us 10 options for £10m and before we know it we've got a new idol we've never heard of who has topped the scoring charts for a few years in some bad ass league.

Yes, work permit shmerk permit, there are ways around anything with envelopes of cash

Actually this is what I'm thinking too. Balding needs to have at least one ace up his sleeve or I'll be a little disappointed. Striker, inside forward, AM, something. Maybe that is the croation lad.
And that is not all. I expect that signing in addition to a big name striker, or at least a mid range striker that is in the ready to go nuclear category. And hopefully they don't need shmerk permits.

Baldini hands Levy five envelopes containing names of strikers, but he will have to pick at random. Or is it Levy to Baldini?

Cardiff are trying to beat Tottenham to the punch by signing Benfica striker Nelson Oliveira on a season-long loan, writes John Cross.

Oliveira, a 21-year-old full Portugal international, is being made available after falling out of favour at the Lisbon giants - he can go for a £1million loan fee, with a £6m option for a permanent deal.

Premier League new boys Cardiff are very keen as they build a squad to compete in the top flight, but are aware that Tottenham's Portuguese boss Andre Villas-Boas is also interested and has made discreet enquiries.

At those prices I say go for it.

Mirror add Nelson Oliveira is avaliable for a season long loan fee of 1 Million or a permanent fee of 6 million.

In all honesty, if it's just a season long loan, ASLONG as he isn't our main striker target and we do get someone else in I'd take it.

Oh dear, that sounds like classical Levy. Making enormous bids of £20 million. Fail. Sign an unknown Portuguese youngster on loan for 1 million and claim that next year will be the big signing. Repeat.

He's an not unknown if you follow European football, got ten caps for Portugal at 21, this wouldn't be a coulibaly type of signing.

Reporter, @_GoncaloLopes has refuted rumours we want Benfica striker Nelson Oliviera. #THFC

A shame, think he could have been a savvy move. My eternal hope for a youthful striker that actually has a chance of breaking in to the first team seems to be forever put on hold.
