Mackenzie would mostly have been out scouting players and putting together dossiers. Mitchell is the head of the department, so has a lot of different responsibilities. There's a bit in the Standard now about him wanting to move into management.

Mackenzie left Derby after Pearson departed.
Seems to be working as a freelancer/academic but I doubt he'd turn his nose up at being offered a job back at Spurs..

Indeed, probably more important than signing the next Kante / Mahrez / Dembele etc is signing the guy that identifies those players regularly. It is amazing that he probably earns in a year, what those players earn each week. I bet Baldini / Arnesen types earn a shedload more than some Brit, much more sexy.

True, but what's the point. I think he wants something bigger than what we are prepared to offer, and even if we employ him in his older role he has already shown that he would rather be elsewhere. Unless he is the dog's doo-dahs at identifying players, I say wait until we appoint Mitchell's replacement who can bring in his own people.
 
Don't forget. His current manager is Rodgers. I saw a rumour that Liverpool are also in for him. That could be a thorn for us.
 
If it is true that he once failed a fitness test for us, there is absolutely no chance we would be in for him again at a super inflated price. Let's move on folks, nothing to see here.
 
We should be all over this at £20m if Marseille are looking to sign him. Not sure if he would want to come to us but £20m? Steal. Offer £25m and get it done. Looked like a great player last season.
 
I thought I read somewhere he was signing for us but failed a medical - The issue was one that meant we would never be in for him (so maybe heart or something). Or maybe I just imagined it....

Yeah - I think that's correct.

It was a failed medical why we pulled out when he was available for £6m 18 months ago.

In January they hoped to get at least £30m for him, really need to question why they are settling for £20m in this climate.
