Mourinho's Coaching Team

Again, the stat "3rd worst at retaining possession" doesn't really mean anything.
It might be that Liverpool specifically throw the ball aggressively into attacking positions to pressure the opposition into clearing into touch so they can then throw it into the box where they are less likely to win it COMPARED TO a team that always just fannies around and throws it back to the centre back to roll back to the keeper.

You can't just throw out some stat like that as though it makes sense.
Probably the teams that retained possession most did bugger all with their throw ins and just rolled it back to the keeper, who then spaffed it wildly upfield for the big lad.

Be careful now, you know the stats junkies will be on your case. ;)

From Nov 2019:

At 30, Joao Sacramento, his new assistant manager at Tottenham, is the youngest of his kind in the Premier League - younger, even, than some of the players he is now helping to oversee. But he brings fresh impetus to a revamped backroom team and comes with a burgeoning reputation too.

Most recently, he worked under Christophe Galtier and Marcelo Bielsa at Lille either side of a spell as the club's caretaker manager. Before that he was at Monaco, working first under Claudio Ranieri, then under Leonardo Jardim. It's not a bad CV for a young coach with no playing history.

Would anyone here want to keep any of Jose's team after he hobbles away carrying a massive bag of Levy's cash?

He has a very progressive apprenticeship CV, maybe he could get a few matches as caretaker. It doesn't feel like we have anything to really lose, beyond the Carabo cup final this season feels like a write off already.

I think its difficult to tell from the outside and also depends on how much of a rot sets in between Jose and the players...and whether his staff are viewed by the players as being tainted with the same rot.

Ledley will be ok and perhaps Sacramento will stay till the new guy comes in and them make the decision. Its possible that if we got a caretaker manager that those two would stay under the caretaker

Is the question not would any of them want to stay?

A coaching team is just that, they all have a responsibility for the success or the failure. It should be a complete reset when the manager changes imo.

Like what? Interested as I saw nothing of him like any other assistant manager.

Mainly from the Amazon documentary. Just strange behaviours. Insincere over-the-top attempts at integrating with players, then telling tales to teacher. Weird kind of forced cheerleading. Not a single word of tactical insight ever uttered. He must have some skills, but interpersonal ones definitely weren't there.

Compare him to Jesus Perez, who clearly everyone genuinely loved - probably even more than Poch - and respected

That was the guy who while at university went hundreds of miles to watch football matches instead of going out on the tinkle with the lads.

He would have learnt more putting his arm round a mates back while sharing a bag of chips at 2 in the morning and hearing how they struck out with a bird.

Plenty of people slagged Redknapp off on here but he knew how to get players playing for him.

Poch was the best at it, get him back and keep him away from recruitment and we would do OK.

It may well be a failure of the man, but it doesn’t reflect well on the squad either, if you don’t buy in and obey the coaching team you are fudged.

It chimes with rumoured complaints about Nuno, holding sessions where players played out of position to get a better understanding of how the opposition would react, which is actually a really smart bit of coaching.

A squad attitude problem wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone of course. Bottle job FC.

I don't know - respect needs to be earned. You shouldn't have reverence for anyone based on their position or status
