Morgan Gibbs-White

I'm sure there will be laws and rules on not transferring his papers over to the PL if we have matched the release clause and agreed a contract with him.

Would be funny if the PL say they can't do anything about the leaked clause and then turn around and fine Forest for holing on to his registration
Hahaha absolutely

MGW will be sat now with his agent forcing the move through IMO.

Yep. Also they might have stopped communication with us but i'm sure CAA are giving their pennys worth.

Not sure how it can be delayed, the clause has been triggered so its either going to be us or someone else (it will be us) who gets him at whats now the known price. MGW wants out so it won't be an Olise deal here, it will be he is out and it will be sooner rather than later.
I mean delayed in the sense that Nottingham Forest are going to be difficult and right now are holding up any change in registration for Giggs-White. He was already supposed to have had his medical so it's already been delayed. How long remains to be seen but it isn't happening at the pace we had originally wanted. Like you I do think it will still happen. The Forest is just being reactionary imo.

I can't see us arranging the medical without forest at least aknowledging they'd recieved the bid.
What was said when they did is probably important. If we said. - There's the £60m it matches the release clause, he's having a medical tomorrow. Can see there being an issue.
If we put in the bid and asked if it was acceptable? Can we talk to the player and they said yes. But then marinakis threw a strop and tried to block it. That's another thing entirely.

Of course but clauses are there for a reason, clubs can't just stick their heads in the sand and ignore them. It will be impossible to prove what they are claiming and from what I've been told by someone I trust, things were moving rapidly till they were not.

They can't hold out indefinitely so I fully expect this to conclude early next week

I'm guessing the prem will ask for evidence of wrong doing. They'll have a team dedicated to transfers (clubs won't want delays in getting a player in).
If none guess they'll tell them to get on with it as they can't investigate if there's nothing to go by.

How do bids work anyway. Do we bid straight to the club or are the prem informed of a bid. Or just a case of registering a transfer?

A true “automatic” release clause is drafted so that, subject to any qualifying conditions (window dates, a list of authorised clubs, relegation, etc.), the club must accept an offer that matches the stated figure. If it refuses, the matter can be forced through league arbitration and the club will lose

Bottom-line legal mechanics:
Trigger – Bid matches the sum and satisfies any formalities.
Automatic effect – Player gains the right to talk to the bidder and, if terms are agreed, to move. The selling club’s duty to issue a transfer agreement or release registration is enforceable by arbitration.
NDA fallout – Separate litigation or disciplinary action. Remedies = money, fines, reputational harm – not the power to keep the player.
Practical delay – A club can slow things down by lodging complaints, but if the clause is valid it cannot ultimately veto the transfer.

Summary:
- The release clause is a performance obligation; the confidentiality breach is a separate cause of action (damages, disciplinary). English arbitrators keep them distinct.
- Rule W.15 of the PL expressly says “it shall be no answer … that documents are confidential.”
- If Spurs re-deposit the £60 m and file for arbitration, the panel is almost certain to order Forest to release the registration, even while a tapping-up charge rumbles on in parallel.
- League fines Spurs (£300-400 k) and perhaps the agent...

I'm sure their owner can fly in a dozen Greek friends who were there when Daniel Levy did the underhand deal.

Its a case of he wants to look powerful to a fanbase thats seeing its team ripped apart, but its par for the failure to reach CL course and these players will go. Its all a lord mayors show
He'll also look an absolute pain in the butt to potential new signings who would consider going to Forest as a career progression but realise that problems could head their way when they wish to then progress beyond Forest.

It's a cultural thing I suspect.... I worked in the Med for decades and came across clowns like him every week. They are never wrong, never accept they have been bettered, always deflect any blame on others and make a hissy fit when they believe they have been slighted. The amount of ridiculous and frivolous law suits I saw were incredible. And the more money they have, the more they behave like this....

I’ll be honest the cultural thing was exactly what I was thinking too but what I thought might not be appropriate to say 🤣

I am with you completely
