Michy Batshuayi

Whilst of course a club like ours needs to be prudent, if we are thinking big we should be concerning ourselves with who the best player is and not who represents the best value.....

Tend to agree with this, we fell short last season because our bench was not strong enough, we needed another DM, AM and CF. We have got the DM and if Poch believes that the Bat is another piece of the jigsaw then we should get him in.

Agree with this. It has to be quality of quantity this summer. There is no need to load up the bench with average or same level players.

If we just signed another Top level Striker and attacking midfielder then we have been successful.

Come on man you can't have seriously seen much of either Jansen or Batshuayi to make that decision

You can see in 30 seconds that one plays with his back to goal and his head up, while the other plays on the last shoulder with his head down.

For a possession side like us there's a very obvious choice for a Kane understudy.

Possession side? The whole basis of Bielsa-esque football is 'quick' transitions from back to front, with the ball covering the most space in the least amount of time possible. It's saved from being a long-ball strategy by the fierce pressing element of it, which enables tight combination play high up the field when turnovers occur, but in any case, it is by no means a possession-based style of play by any means.

Funnily enough, that style of play is perfectly suited to someone like Bats running off the shoulder, since the idea would be to play him in with a quick ball as soon as a turnover of possession occurs. It would entail our attacking midfield being more static, due to having to play a different role to what they have when Kane's playing (i.e, Kane dropping deep necessitates more forward runs from our AM three than would otherwise be the case) - but Bats himself would be ideally suited.

If it's about Janssen being much cheaper and therefore the right option (the same logic you used when advocating for now Celtic-bound Moussa Dembele on a free transfer earlier in the summer), then you can come out and say it, you know. No harm in it, even if disagreement will inevitably follow.

I hope we don't spend £30m on this kid. That Jaansen fella looks good for half of the price.

The way things are going in a few days time we will find he has signed for someone else, Michy Batshuay and Dembele have already gone

When you make comments like this I feel I again need to remind you that it was with your expert insight and appreciation of the game that you came out with your famed comment that we do not need Toby because we have Fazio. You also claim that Wanyama is mediocre, which really does not say much about Poch as he was one of his first signings at Southampton and had also been chasing him for a year before signing him last week. But then you did not want Poch because he was rank average as well.

You also ignore the fact that Poch probably wants a player that can both play alongside as well as with Kane

Well done Marseille you've managed to get well over the odds for the player.Nothing changes at Chelscum just stockpiling players. We were never going to pay that much.So now there are two we are looking at and i suspect Berehino may be a late entry into the fray.

Chels are signing Belgium's 4th choice striker for 40 mill. Sums up where they are right now and the state of the transfer market too.

I think we withdrew from this one long ago despite all the media talk. Just crazy money involved.

Good luck to the guy but for me spending £30m plus and £100,000k a week on a player unproven in this league to play in a position where he wouldnt be our first choice player is a little excessive.

Personally i think the Janssen option was agreed and waiting to see whether the fee for this guy dropped or not, i think we will push the button on him now instead.

Also; yet another argument for a stricter policy on squad size/players on loan to avoid rich clubs stockpiling talent.

Chelski currently have 25 players in their first team squad, and 35 (I kid you not) players on loan to other clubs. That means Batshuayi will be Chelski's 61st player. Good luck with that.
