Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Poch :
I also want to say that Daniel Levy should be so happy. I want to congratulate him. He's putting in a massive effort, trying to deliver and finish the stadium. Sometimes it's easy to get the praise, the coaching staff, the players and the fans but I think he, and all the board, deserve massive congratulations because they're putting in a massive effort, building what is for me one of the best stadiums in the world. I think I want to congratulate him and this achievement, he is a big part of it and he deserves massive recognition for that.

Clearly a subliminal 'back me or I'm off' message to the boss.

(sarcasm).

How the fudge can you not love the man. Levy too for that matter.

I also love the glaring absense of the 'usual suspects' after a tough loss... @DubaiSpur et al, where art thou?

An excellently articulated answer, BoL, with which I find hard to disagree. However, I am still of the opinion that Poch doesnt always translate this policy into action, particularly regarding the use of substitutes. He seems to work too much to a formula which doesn’t therefore allow sufficient flexibility. For example, he was too slow to react to the two subs Arsenal made at half time.

Indeed, my particular issue with this formulaic approach is the need to be adaptable to circumstances. For instance, Moura joined in January having played little football. He had a good month or so of Poch conditioning, roughly equivalent to a pre-season. Yet when games were going against us and we needed fresh legs, speed and a maverick approach like for the Juve home game or the Mancs Semi Final, Poch didn’t call on him. When at last he called him into the Leicester game on the final day, he showed what he could do and won the game for us. I think there are certain situations ( like Tuesday against Barca) when you just have to be brave and go for it. After all, to dare is to do and the best managers (who have track records of winning trophies) have this adaptability in their armoury. Hopefully Poch is learning. It seems that by his judicious use of subs at the Nou Camp, he may well be. If he closes this Achilles heel, we may be on the verge of great things. Let’s hope so.

Poch needs to make subs on 60 mins, nearly always.

When he has, it wins us the game and we laud him.
When he doesn't, we start to sink.
Rocket science.

It’s not rocket science, it’s maths, a proper scientific study into substitute performance exists, it was featured heavily in the numbers game, early subs positively change results.

Some sort of fan recognition for the work that man is putting in would be nice. I can't see it happening, but it would be nice.

Au contraire, Rodney! I believe the overwhelming majority love Daniel Levy and truly appreciate the fine job he has done and continues to do!

Yeah, I reckon, but according to THST (on the Fighting rooster podcast a couple of months back), it was said that Levy himself thought most fans didn't like him or the job he was doing (or something along those lines, I can't remember exactly).

This without a doubt, there are a few who like to bitch about him but they are the types who moan about the sun being to hot, the rain being to wet, etc, etc. never happy some folks.

No surprise from those two inauspicious groups.
