You gave him a 5 though?
Yes, because I thought he was below par. Par is a 6.
You gave him a 5 though?
Moonlit doesn't rate Walker, Kaboul and BAE oh and guess what? a 6,4,and 5 rating.
i'm sure you've stated sandro is overrated on here too?
Yes, because I thought he was below par. Par is a 6.
" don't do 0.5's so if he was below par, he gets a 6"
sorry you was saying?
Aww honey, did I upset you and get under your skin? Such a fragile boy! I remember you from when I used to frequent here a lot. Good to see you haven't changed!!
Oh, and I didn't get it wrong. We played negative in the first half, and during the first half in the OMT I did tell people to stop getting upset that we weren't bombing forward because it was obvious the game plan was play defensive. I also predicated that the last 10 mins we'd open up a bit and go for a later winner. Personally that's the way I think the game went too.
Yes, because I thought he was below par. Par is a 6.
but it didn't though? how many of our chances were before the last 10 minutes?
Neither team opened up really. It was an edgy game but what team goes away to chelski and create that man clear cut chances. The formation that you predicted would fail was a success so of course you're wrong.
That was a typo dear boy and I corrected it the same time you were being a pedant!
Friedel - 7 - Solid
Walker - 7 - Apart from 1 defensive error where he passed the ball to Drogba, very good and unlucky with his chance
Gallas - 7.5 - Provided defensive stability, covered very well for Kaboul on a couple of occasions
Kaboul - 6 - Few mistakes,average
Assou-Ekotto - 7 - Solid
Parker - 7.5 -Ran his socks off, covered the ground very well, helped our defence-THATS the Parker I wanna see always
Sandro - 6 - Provided a bit more defensive stability,but mostly anonymous
Modric - 8 -MoM - It wasen't a performance where he totaly dominated with more than 100 passes and touches, but as soon as he realised what he needs to do,he provided 4 clear cut chances for us.Very good set pieces and possession game
VdV - 6.5 - He tries, but just like Kranjcar,RM/RW is simply not his position and should have done better with the chance he had.Set pieces were good
Adebayor - 7.5 - Very good hold up play, dribbling and anticipation.Sloppy touch and possession sometimes,if he scored his chance, then he would have gotten mom
Bale - 6 - Selfish and drifted inside too much
I didn't say it would fail. I said we were playing not to lose and that is what a 4-5-1 formation is. Personally, and this is probably my long standing Spurs traditions, I don't like going out setting out NOT to lose. I prefer going out to win. What I predicted is that by playing 4-5-1 we wouldn't win.
the man does have a point. average should be a six. if someone is below average then the are below a 6
i think though considering the gravity of the occasion i would give sandro an average score
i'm more inclined to give bale a below average score for not finding open guys when we are attacking and playing all tarzan of the jungle by himself
having said the the freekick and cross bar header were pretty niice. and we drew...plus he's bale so he gets an automatic 7
hmm, dont mean to jump in between this argument but as far as predicting score and results goes you were correct. but as far as pattern of play and the way the game unfolded i think you were wrong
we could have won that game, and i think chelsea were very happy with the draw all things considered
Typo my ass. You're beyond predictable, it's just you messed up on this occasion. It's clear as day you thought his performance deserved a 6 but you utter stubbornness and you past comments about Sandro lead you to score it down to reiterate your stance on him.
Maybe, but I still think not. I thought things only really came to life when both teams switched to 4-4-2 and the game became open. Up until that point neither team really looked like, or deserved to, winning. I think people are letting the last 20 minutes blind them to the entire 95.
Did we actually switch to a 4-4-2? I thought Saha just replaced VdV in his position. Tracked back down the right as much as VdV and tried getting up to support VdV from the right. They did change to a 4-4-2 and their midfield two lost out to our 3 men in there, that's what handed us the initiative imo.
Out of curiosity Moonlit, what kind of ratings would you give the Chelsea defenders today?
Same as ours to be honest. Chelsea's defending at times was woeful. Cahill caught the eye with a couple of last ditch challenges but his all round game was poor. Terry made some really basic errors too. Thought them bringing on Luiz was a disasterous decision too. He doesn't just look like Krusty, he really is a clown! I refrain to rate Ashley Cole because no matter how well or poorly he plays as far as I am concerned he is always a **** who doesn't even deserve a 1!
For me it seems that your expectations are very high (too high) when it comes to defenders. Against good teams sometimes defenders will get done, when put under pressure some mistakes will be made.
I don't disagree, but it's the amount of mistakes they make and the types of mistakes. For example in the second half Terry had an easy header to deal with and it glanced sideways off of his head because he took his eye of the ball. That's bad, no matter who the player is. There is also a difference between a defender being outplayed, or making a mistake. On one occasion Drogba turned Kaboul and left him trailing. I don't blame Kaboul for that, Drogba is a superb player and he simply outfoxed him. Contrast that to Kaboul planting his feet and misjudging the flight of the ball so it goes past him and Gallas brings down a player in the box trying a last ditch challenge, that's bad defending. And the sort of level we're aspiring to achieve defenders will make one or two mistakes like that every few games. Not a few mistakes like that EVERY game.
