Manager Sack Watch

I absolutely can. We invested well, developed and evolved.

They spent a lot of money - and didnt develop or evolve at all.

Look at what they spent - outside the doped clubs they were regularly among the leagues highest spenders. And for what?

That's a question Stoke fans have begun asking themselves, what is their purpose? To simply exist?

I have to say I don't understand the fascination with simply being in the PL so you can get the money that is then wasted on players just about good enough for one more season. You'd think building towards something, investing in improved facilities, taking cups more seriously or just bringing through some academy players would interest fans of these smaller clubs more than seeing journeymen hoofball them to 40 points season after season.

They had a terrible run at the end of last season, once safety was assured.

Thats being rolled into the stat.

Not a good number, of course - but given who/what they are and Pulis at the helm, not a crisis either, IMO.

I said he was appalling limited. He'll get you about a 30% win record which considering the not inconsiderable amounts he spends is a bare minimum IMO. In your previous post you are criticising his spend of 80m and then you think that is reasonable in your next post.

Edit: actually it is only 30mil net spend this season

I'm sorry, I misread your post. £80m wasn't this season, but overall since he took over.

I think his consistency is impressive, even with that net spend. He gets players performing and he rarely gets tactical stuff wrong.

If I was a club owner I would consider him if the aim was simply to survive in the PL. Though long term the club might be better off with someone else.

Normally that is what you get, but this season he's been consistently bad. Though as you say not all seasons have been like that. Having nothing to back up this opinion except my fading memory, it seems as if his teams do enough to get over the 40 point line and then performances drop away.

Yeah but he consistently tinkles Wenger off... he is all good in my book. As long as he is no where near spurs

this might be genius by west brom’s board, they’ve given themselves enough time to hire and fire another manager before the weekend

double dead cat bounce

It’s just a merry-go-round of not-very-good managers taking on failing clubs, leaving failing clubs and joining other failing clubs. Like a closed shop for football managers.

pulis is a very good manager who consistently gets clubs 4/5 places higher than they should be

this will end up with WBA going down imo

Klopp's got to be working his way to the front of the field. A successful night qualifying for Europa League in December and he will feel the heat.
Going out of the CL would be a huge blow, but it also looks rather unlikely.

I think he's fairly safe. If they fail to get into the CL, and then he has a poor start next season we might start talking about him in this thread.

There is a strange cult around him, the fans (weird as they are) seem to worship him. Until they turn I dont think he is going anywhere.

They still havent got over Benitez being sacked, I dont think they could handle Klopp going as well!

and the managers who leave for being failures get richer and richer with each massive payday
