Hello from Hamburg,
If anyone is really interested in the “case Mario Vuskovic”, I would advice to dive deeper into this topic. Unfortunately, I read a lot of hasty conclusions here.
Yes, Mario Vuskovic, Luka´s big brother, had a positive epo-test in 2022. But there were incredible inconsistencies in the procedure. Because of this, Mario went to the Lausanne Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Many international experts were sure that mistakes have been made with the epo-test, the testing-procedure and the interpretation of the result which was absolutely not 100 % clear. Mario Vuskovic even did and succeeded a lie-detector-test at a British university. At the end, the judge decided against Vuskovic, to the horror of the vuskovic-family and the Hamburger SV. From our point of view, this decision despite all the inconsistencies has been made to safe the face and power of WADA and the current, inadequate testing-procedure. Mario Vuskovic was the pawn sacrifice. He has been suspended from FIFA for 4 years (at the age of 20)! This man lost everything, nobody knows if he will ever find back his way into professional football after this long 4-year-break. (FIFA not even allows him to do team-trainings or to get near his old team.) For a lot of people here in Germany, this is quiet a big scandal but Marios Vuskovics name was not jet big enough to get international attention. A big Documentary about the “case” Mario Vuskovic will be published next year.
The Hamburger SV (fans, players and management team) and the entire Vuskovic-Family are still completely convinced of Mario Vuskovics innocence. Because of that, HSV helped the family on this hard way in the last 3 years and gave Mario a new contract beginning in November 2026, even if nobody knows if he can reach his old level again. I am sure that this is the main reason why Luka would like to play for the Hamburger SV this season. It is because of the "Case Mario" and a strong connection between the Vuskovic-Family and the Hamburger SV. Luka Vuskovic even happily attended the HSV-Bundesliga-promotion-party in May.
And no, the Hamburger SV, champions-league-winner of 1983 and multi-time bundesliga-winner, is one of the oldest and, after a 7-year stint in League 2, still a big, trustworthy, established club here in Germany. There is no “systematic doping” at HSV (players get officially tested after every official game). There is absolutely no “risk” in loaning Luka Vuskovic to this club and he would be very welcome and appreciated.
