Leaves on the Line..

Carnage on my train line tonight out of Liverpool Street, due to leaves on the line and slippery tracks..

fudging pathetic, its called the start of Winter, it happens every year...

One train got stuck which meant they canx 12 peak time trains, all the others were delayed and like the mumbai express, no fudging need

What are your trains normally like? How frequent at rush hour?
I often go to my parents at weekends in reading can guarantee whatever time on Friday afternoon you get the train it is absolutely heaving not able to move at all. Just assumed its cos it's Friday not sure what it's like during week.

Very busy between 4.30pm and 8pm, if your not on a train say 10 mins before it leaves you wont often get a seat

Im between 50 and 70 mins down the line depending on whether its a fast or slow train, normally after people have got off at Chelmsford 30 mins down its a lot quieter

I pay £4,560 a year for the fare too

mrs southstand gets the train to work and back everyday via Paddington

I get all the stories from her. They couldn't run a tinkle up in a brewery

There is at least 2 major fudge ups EVERY week, without fail, resulting in cancelled trains or major delays on her journey

Try the trains in any other European country. They work like clockwork and run ALL night long

Blatant affair imo...

Trains! Don't talk to me about fudging trains. For WHU on Sun there are no direct trains to London on the 5 closest lines to me. All of them have replacement bus services for part of the journey. Bunch of absolute ****s. Who decides to do engineering work on every line on the same day! ****s.

I got through 15 mins later than usual, was on the 15.45 from Stratford. This year my season ticket is £5100 :cry:

That really is a brickload of money.

Its why people would rather stay on benefits. When we all spend brickloads of money to actually fudgein work - we are paying to go to work - how ridiculous is that huh.

I pay around 1500 a year then again im sure the living costs here cost more than yours in terms of house prices etc.

Plus the tax laws are that companies who offer interest free ST loans can only do so upto £5k, anything over that your having to pay yourself and thats after youve already been massively taxed on everything in yout life, fudging ace

if you actually calculate how much we spend on working - trains to go to and from work, clothes such as suits (not cheap), then lunches etc - 10k I bet.

Massively, it helps the economy for sure, they are in danger of pricing people off the trains

Add in the cost of your own time if you choose to commute to work in London from 30 miles or more away and I'd say you need to earn £20K a year extra for working in London to make it worthwhile rather than do the same job locally for a lower salary.

Id be lucky to earn 1/3 of what I do working locally

Marky, people dismiss leaves on the line as a daft excuse but trust me on this one, the person who finds a cure would become immensely wealthy. I'm not saying that maintainers and TOCs don't trot out that excuse glibly to cover other failings but the three main problems it causes are poor rail head adhesion, loss of train detection in track circuited areas & wheel flats which then go on to wreck the rails.

SS1882, don't believe the hype about other countries running a 24 hour railway, maintenance has to be carried out as some time so if the trains are running on all lines 24/7 then important maintenance isn't taking place.

All the gripes are true, just thought I'd give a bit of background info.
