Lawro the Twunt says... 2021/22

Errm, is Lawro seriously trying to suggest that most of our first team contracting covid and therefore being unable to train for 10 days is giving us some sort of advantage!?

What an absolute cretin.

Tottenham v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

It is so far, so good for Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, who is still unbeaten in the Premier League after five games in charge and is starting to mould his squad into his own team.

Palace out-played Spurs at Selhurst Park in September, which was the beginning of the end of Nuno Espirito Santo's short reign as Tottenham boss.

The Eagles will still pose a threat but this is a very different Spurs team, and it is interesting to see Conte giving chances to players who were on the periphery under his predecessor. His team selections are working out pretty well.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Southampton v Tottenham (15:00 GMT)

Southampton got a great win over West Ham on Sunday but they are very inconsistent, which is why they've spent most of the season in the bottom half of the table.

Tottenham are still unbeaten in the league under Antonio Conte, who has won four and drawn two of his six games so far, but five of them have been at home so we are yet to really see what they are like under him on the road.

That's why I'm going for a draw here, although I don't really know what to expect from Southampton - good or bad.

Lawro's prediction: 1-1

I guess even a complete TWUNT is right twice a year.

Watford v Tottenham (15:00)

Like Norwich, Watford are in a mess and are also on a run of five successive defeats.

The difference with the Hornets is that they do carry a goal threat - they have scored at least once in each of those games, and took the lead in two of them.

It is at the other end where Claudio Ranieri's side have major issues though, conceding an average of three per match during that run, and I don't see them keeping Tottenham out either.

Spurs could not break down Southampton on Tuesday despite Saints playing the entire second half with 10 men, but Watford just do not have that kind of defensive discipline.

Lawro's prediction: 0-2

Tottenham v Arsenal (16:30 GMT)
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he is running out of players because of illness and injury, so there is a chance this game might be called off.

If it goes ahead, I am not expecting a classic.

The way Tottenham went out of the Carabao Cup without much of a fight was disappointing, but they are still unbeaten in the league in eight games under Antonio Conte.

Conte will want to keep that record, so being hard to beat will be the priority, but I have a feeling Spurs will nick all three points, even though Son Heung-min is still out injured.

Lawro's prediction: 1-0.

Chelsea v Tottenham (16:30)

I really do think Chelsea have to just deal with their busy schedule and get on with it.

The Blues are not in good form but it probably helps them that they are playing Tottenham, firstly because they kept them at arm's length in both their Carabao Cup semi-final games recently, and also because this will be feisty and that should bring the best out of Tuchel's team.

Spurs still haven't lost in the league under Antonio Conte, in a fantastic run that has lasted nine matches. I think that will end on Sunday, although it is going to be close.

Lawro's prediction: 2-1

Tottenham v Brighton (20:00 GMT)

Tottenham did quite a bit of business in January, in both directions, so it will be interesting to see what changes Antonio Conte makes, and where Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur will fit into his team.

Conte reached the final of the FA Cup in his first season at Chelsea, and won it the following year. I am not sure how he will view it now he is at Spurs, but I think home advantage will help him get past Brighton for starters.

Mind you, the Seagulls are draw specialists wherever they play so it would not be a surprise if they take this tie into extra time.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Tottenham v Southampton

I don't know how Tottenham's new signings, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur are going to fit into Antonio Conte's side, but the most important thing for Spurs is to see Harry Kane scoring again.

Kane back on the goal trail is a headline we've been waiting a long time to see, because it doesn't feel like he has been fully fit or at his best for much of this season.

We know Southampton are hard to beat, and they took a point off Spurs with 10 men at St Mary's Stadium at the end of last year, but if Kane is firing then Tottenham will be too.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Tottenham v Wolves (14:00 GMT)

Tottenham are very up and down at the moment which must be frustrating for their manager Antonio Conte.

He will have been especially unhappy at the way they lost to Southampton on Wednesday after leading 2-1 with 10 minutes to go - which was a kind of role reversal of the way Spurs fought back to beat Leicester in injury time last month.

So I am not really sure which Spurs we will see here, but we know what to expect from Wolves now. The task for Conte and his players is to find a way of breaking them down.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Emirates Marketing Project v Tottenham (17:30)

Tottenham beat Emirates Marketing Project on the opening weekend of the season, but there are plenty of reasons it has not turned into the campaign that Spurs fans would have hoped for on the back of that result.

Antonio Conte started really well when he replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as Tottenham manager in November, but their recent form and results have been poor. I don't think they are strong enough defensively but, more than anything, I am just not sure what sort of state they are in psychologically, because all does not seem very happy in their camp.

City? Well they just keep on winning. They took Sporting Lisbon apart in style on Tuesday and it will take something special from Tottenham to get something at Etihad Stadium. I don't see it happening.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Leeds v Tottenham (12:30 GMT)

Both sides had very poor results in midweek. I saw the Leeds one coming because of their injuries and the fact they were going to Anfield - but Tottenham's defeat at Burnley was much more of a surprise.

Spurs have now lost four of their past five league games and it was typical Tottenham to see them go to Emirates Marketing Project and win the way they did on Saturday, then follow it up with such a limp display on a wet and windy Wednesday at Turf Moor.

Leeds have bigger problems, though. You can't play the way they do against Liverpool and expect to get away with it, but they just don't have a Plan B.

I'm expecting a reaction from Spurs, but I don't think Leeds can do anything different, especially with Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips still out injured, which is why they have been dragged into a relegation scrap.

Lawro's prediction: 0-2

Middlesbrough v Tottenham (19:55)

Middlesbrough knocked Manchester United out in the last round and I'm sure they will fancy their chances of another shock here, especially at home.

Boro's charge for the play-offs has stuttered a bit because of their poor away form - they lost at struggling Barnsley on Saturday, which shows you what the Championship is like - but they have won seven in a row at Riverside Stadium.

This is going to be a very interesting tie because I don't have a clue what sort of side Tottenham boss Antonio Conte will put out, or whether they will turn up, performance-wise.

Spurs rolled Leeds over on Saturday but we can't read too much into that result because of the number of goals Leeds were conceding before Marcelo Bielsa's departure.

If Tottenham play like they did at Turf Moor against Burnley last week, Boro have got every chance. The same applies if Conte leaves out his best players.

Whether Conte picks Harry Kane and Son Heung-min or not will tell us a lot about Tottenham's targets this season. Does he fancy a cup run, or is it all about making fourth place in the Premier League?

My thinking there is that Spurs don't play again until next Monday, when they host Everton. So why not go strong to try to win this one and get in the hat for the quarter-finals?

Lawro's prediction: 0-2

Tottenham v Everton (20:00 GMT)

Everton have not been great in either of their two away games under Frank Lampard so far, losing at Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Southampton, so they will have do far better to get anything here.

At the same time, it's hard to know which Tottenham team will turn up on Monday night. Antonio Conte picked a strong side against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, but they never really got going.

Conte has been in charge since the start of November but it is still hard to work out why they are so inconsistent. I don't think they are the greatest defensively, but I am not sure what the issue is with them sometimes when they come forward.

They are at home and with Everton's poor form on their travels I am going with a Spurs win, but I am not exactly confident that is what will happen.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

what a twunt, thats fudged it then!

Man Utd v Tottenham (17:30 GMT)

Manchester United were decent in the first half at Etihad Stadium on Sunday because they carried a threat but what we saw from them after that was basically a capitulation.

It was back to their own pattern of one good half and one bad half and that second half was arguably their worst of the season.

United just cannot shake that inconsistency off and that tells me loads about the mentality of their players. They were not just outplayed by Emirates Marketing Project after the break, they lost any competitive edge that they had.

This Tottenham team are not exactly renowned for performing every week either, so I am a little bit wary of backing them to go to Old Trafford and win.

We know Spurs can be flaky but the form that Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are in at the moment makes me think they will cause United all sorts of problems, if they get any sort of supply.

Lawro's prediction: 1-2

ArrDee's prediction: United haven't been playing too well but I'm not giving Tottenham anything! 1-0
