Juan Mata

Don't think he clarified that but some Sky Italy journo seems to think so. Personally I think we might just be trying to rock the boat at Chelsea a little.

Ok, cheers.

Yeah, boat rocking is probably a possibility. A lot of bad blood between the clubs at this point I imagine.

I just can't see us blowing that much money on another attacking midfielder at this point.

Yeah, just seems strange how he's basically been getting day-to-day updates on what's happening at Spurs.

An **** fan at work claimed that Mata's father was guest of honor at their match against Femerbache this week. No idea if it is true or how he heard it.

Yea it's true. It was pretty widely reported. Wenger seemed pretty smug when asked about it.

Means eff all when AVB is texting Mata and Mata getting him to put in a bid.

4-2-3-1

LLoris
Walker--Kaboul--Vertonghen--Coentrao
-----Sandro---Paulinho------
Mata-----Eriksen-----Lamela
---------Soldado------------

Subs: Friedel, Chiriches, Capoue, Chadli, Siggy, Townsend, Defoe
and also in rotation are Dawson, Rose, Holtby, Lennon, Carrol, Ade. Obviously some of them will be loaned/sold

absolutely no way we're signing Mata by the way... but why not dream

Lamela isnt joining us to play out the left and Mata hates playing out the right. Eriksen isn't that good to play that role ahead of Mata or Lamela.

Where has Mata said he hates playing on the right? That's where he's mainly played for Chelsea and he's had two amazing seasons there, obviously he drifts in and switches positions a lot but that's generally been his starting position. Not that we're getting him and whilst I think he's brilliant, signing another midfielder would be overkill.

Did Mata play out on the left when AVB was at Chelsea? With Sturridge on the right and a striker in the centre, iirc.

I think Gary Neville made a great point on Sky the other night. He said that neither Eriksen, Sigi or Holtby are a proper number ten and from what i've seen so far i'd have to agree. Sigi defo not a number ten, Holtby has shown some glimpses in the cup games but i'm still not convinced, but he is still young.. As for Eriksen i think he does need more time to make the position his own but has looked weak, his tame shot against Saudi Sportswashing Machine springs to mind. I was thinking does our answer to getting the best out of Soldado lie over at Stamford Bridge and possibly signing Juan Mata? They were absolutely fantastic together at Valencia.

Surely Soldado and Mata must speak regularly as they were good friends on and off the pitch at Valencia and logistically rather than going back to Spain he would probably want to play in the premier? Also, AVB could communicate well with him i feel. For me if we went and spent £40 mill on Mata it could change our season because of what he would bring to Spurs with his craft and goals. Spurs havent been the same creatively since Modric and VDV left and i felt we always had a goal in us at any time in the game but right now we cant score for toffee. Spurs are a side imo that always need that guy dropping off the front man and linking up play, it worked with Berbatov and it worked with VDV and since then we've not really hit on a good combination upfront.. If i was Baldini i'd be looking into this possibility because he's clearly not loved or fancied by Mourinho and he would be an absolute legend if he came to Spurs. I realise Chelsea will fight to keep Mata and they probably wont want to sell him right away but every player has his price and if we really go for him we could get him imo.

Looking at all the teams playing expansive football right now, victims have a great front two, united have a great front two, city as we witnessed on sunday sadly have a great from two. Eriksen or holtby with Soldado right now doesnt put any fear into me as an opposing defender does it. Ok, Arsenal with their one up front are probably the exception to the rule but that number ten position for me is the key to creativity.

I'm also not saying get rid of those other 3 players because i think Eriksen could play next to Sandro for example with Mata ahead of him..

He is exactly the player we need, but is at the exact club we could never buy from. They won't sell him to us, so, there's little chance of it happening - but, a Mata-esque player is what we need. Sadly there ain't many about. Lavezzi at PSG is my hope.

With the Valencia friends connection it could work and if Mata wants to come.

Lemala - He's still a few years away from making an impact on the premiership, we need something now otherwise it's 6th or 7th place at best. I meet him 2 weeks ago and he's so lightweight, he needs to bulk up more.

I dont think Mata would come to us. With the way things are panning out this season, we'll be lucky to get a CL place next season, and I think if Mata goes it'll be to a CL team.

No

This. And that goes for the Sandro/Lamela midfield I've seen bandied about here too.

With Eriksen and Mata both being 'in the hole' type players you're essentially only playing one in midfield - that's suicide even at home against **** teams.
