Jose Mourinho - SACKED

It will be almost incomprehensible to think we could miss out on the top 4 with potentially two players in the team getting 20 league goals (Kane and Son). If we miss out, then I would point to the defence and Jose’s negative tactics until Jan-Feb but he’s set the team out to be more attacking recently so at least he’s recognised the strength of the team is in attack.

I actually think we’ve got a good shot at top 4. Personally I think we need to win 8 and maybe draw one or two out of the last 11 games.
Well we are still in the race for sure and we still have a lot to play for. Considering all the doom and gloom s ome were making out just a few weeks ago it just shows you its " a Funny Old Game".

Yeah we’re definitely in with a shout still. Was just a general observation that we have two players with almost 30 league goals between them and yet we still find ourselves in 7th. Long way to go of course but if we miss out then I point the finger at the back four. We need two new centre backs.

Lloris in his prime > ageing Lloris
Rose in his prime = Reguilon
Vertonghen > Sanchez / Dier
Alderweireld in his prime > current Alderweireld
Walker in his prime > Aurier
Wanyama = Hojbjerg
Dembele before the hip injuries > current Ndombele
Young Son < current Son
Dele at his best = ageing Bale
Eriksen fully motivated > Lucas
Kane before ankle injuries < Kane in his prime

Lloris in his prime > ageing Lloris [emoji3514]
Rose in his prime = Reguilon I actually think Regulion will prove the better player, I see no difference in them defensively and Reguillion is significantly better offensively.
Vertonghen >>>> Sanchez / Dier [emoji3514]
Alderweireld in his prime >>>> current Alderweireld [emoji3514]
Walker in his prime > Aurier [emoji3514] Although Walker couldn't cross either
Wanyama = Hojbjerg
Dembele before the hip injuries > current Ndombele. Demebele was better defensively but there are light years of quality between them in attack and passing quality. So it's what do you prefer, more solidity or better attacking?
Young Son < current Son [emoji3514]
Dele at his best = ageing Bale [emoji3514]
Eriksen fully motivated >> Lucas
Kane before ankle injuries < Kane in his prime [emoji3514]

On balance we possibly have a better side now in that we have more top quality in the attacking sense but obviously the centre of defense has seen a significant downgrade.

Reguilon has a higher ceiling than Rose but if he fulfils potential then guess Madrid will use their buy-back option.

Ndombele is more explosive going forward but not shown he can dominate big games for us like Mousa used to on such a regular basis before the chronic injuries took their toll.

Fair play to the guy for backing down and changing how we played a bit.

We are generally trying to push on for a second and third goal now.

Cant help but feel he reverted to type again today.
Sent us out to be defensive and contain them.
But then we had a go when there was nothing to lose.
We all saw 10th place Arsenal were there for the talking the whole time.

Hopefully he is more brave when we draw them in the Europa.

@SpurMeUp - mate, you want nuance after we lost to Arsenal with a display as insipid, as cowardly, as pathetic as that?

This guy was supposed to be some tactical genius. He's a pound-shop Pulis that was comprehensively outthought by Mikel Arteta, 18 months into his first job.

He was supposed to be a motivational mastermind. His team looked wasted, insipid, gutless and heartless from minute 1 to minute 90, while Arteta's young Goons looked energetic, hungry and determined.

He's supposed to live by a credo 'fear is not a word in my dictionary'. Arteta's team pressed from the front, we sat back like miserable cowards and conceded loads of chances anyway. Arteta's a braver man than he is.

This fool picks Matt Doherty again and again - the most utterly useless right back at this club in a very long time, including Pascal Chimbonda and Kyle Naughton. This fool sets up to concede space to everybody bar useless minnows. This fool. No one else. Him.

We saw what we could do in the last 10 when we actually attacked because the handbrake finally came off. Makes me wonder what might have been if the team had just ignored this Portuguese chancer played from the start.

If we wanted a manager to crush minnows 4-0 by letting the players play, we could have hired Sherwood back on a tenth of the wage we pay to this coward.

The Goons have a better manager than we do on a fifth the salary. That's the reality of it.

It was very odd
Not what I expected at all
Credit to them for doubling down our right. It was a lazy lazy performance form bale and exactly what he did vs Fulham too.
But the team was so passive and barely showed any hunger

Dubai, do you know the condition of Aurier and Tanganga? Doherty aside, I can't blame Mourinho. This looks to be more on the players who wilted under expectations. AGAIN!!

As I said Demebele was better defensively but his passing was pish. He rarely played it forward and never penetratively. So the question is as I said which do you prefer, the defensively solidity or the potential creativity. For me the lack of passing quality in midfield due to the 2x DMs is a large part of why we failed to get over the line in the big games. All of our attacking impetus came in the form of one man in Eriksen and in the big games and big moments he alone wasn't enough.

Nothing from recent Chelsea, Wham, Liv, City, Arse games.

Nicked a few wins against the lower sides and the Europa oppo but can’t help thinking that every time he gets a serious test he/we fail.
Which I must say is not what I expect from Jose Mourinho, one of the shrewdest managers in the game- except when he manages Spurs.

Whatever condition they're in, they would play better than Doherty. A one-legged headless statue propped up in the turf would probably win more challenges than that lumbering lump.

Sigh. Outthought, and outfought, by Moyes. Ouththought by Tuchel. Outthought by Arteta. Outthought by Klopp - twice. Outthought by Ancelotti. Outthought by Potter.

This is the bloke we're paying 15m to? The second or third-highest salary in the league...for this?!?

Why couldn't we just keep Poch and do his damn rebuild. Instead we gave the time of day to this washed-up coward, and are not at all better for it.

I’d take prime Dembele over prodigious Ndombele right now after that anonymous display today, although the latter is still young and if Tanguy fulfils potential he could be as good as Modric.

You can't argue with the facts and that's exactly what we're seeing - read a week or two back we were bottom of the 'top 10 mini league' and i know we haven’t done much to improve on that statistic since so we're basically only any good v the brick sides

I didn’t see a catenaccio setup today, for me it’s another game where we lost, and were pinned back, primarily because our players couldn’t string two passes together or bother to put in any effort.

We were setup to hit them on the break again, but too many of our players couldn’t be arsed, particularly Kane and Bale, I’d hope to see both dropped for the next game after that no show.

We weren't pinned back though, jesus christ what game were you watching Arsenal were afforded time and space on the ball with no pressure, all way up in their areas of the pitch whilst we sat back and kept our shape
