I'm actually quite pro Paratici and always liked the idea behind bringing him on board, Knowing this Summer would always be the best time to get in maybe the 3 or 4 Conte would really want.. Saying that.. I can see why some are honestly a bit deflated. He has had months since the summer window to look around and try to find some options, plus a whole month of agents throwing names his way this window, and despite being told we were looking for a LCB, a RWB and a Striker we have only signed 2 midfielders that his old club didn't want! I really hope that they have identified some players in mind that are being nailed down for the summer (who couldn't join right now) otherwise it might be a painful repeat in the Summer window.
PS. I hope these 2 signings are quality, It's just a bit strange how this window has panned out

Oh yeah, I'm personally quite happy. Cleared out the ones we wanted and potentially 2 excellent signings in for Conte to work with.
I'm just thinking of all the chat of meetings and looking at RWB and LCB and Vlahovic etc and from that point of view I wonder if they nailed down some targets this month for the summer that they are excited about

I think the Vlahovic and Traore links were just because that's who we were after in the summer (pre-Kane staying and pre-Gil arriving). I don't think we were ever after them this window. We've probably got better long-term plans - e.g. Lamptey, Torres and Brereton - lined up for the summer for those positions.

I dont really have a problem with having a thinner squad. I am more thoughtful that we wont have game changers on the bench. Also if we can thin the squad so that we can be ready to sign players earlier in the summer window then that is all good as well.
I hope one or two of the younger players get more of a chance as well due to this. I prefer to see young players playing that over rated nobodies from another league.
All this said though. Its a bit underwhelming that basically Paratici goes back to the well to sign two players from his former job. I hope he has more scope in the summer.

Not disputing these players can have an affect. But apart from Son who i dont believe would be on the bench we are looking at:
Moura - 2 goals all season
Bergwijn - 2 goals all season
If we was playing moneyball its not a comforting stat. But lets say at Bergwijn has those 2 goals recently and did well against the spammers before getting injured.

Doesn't have to be like Gedson, thought that was the point of a Director of Football to make better signings. Another loan or purchase along the lines of the 2 we've done would help the squad.
Our first 11 is ok/good then you have bench options made up with Gollini, Doherty/Royal, Sessegnon, Winks, Rodon, Tanganga, Bergwijn who with the odd exception have generally been seen to be not good enough.

Son's numbers are brick this season too.
The team has struggled, we have (hopefully) better pieces to use in Conte's system now.
I agree Bergwijn's recent performances are really promising.
Moura doesn't have many goals or direct assists, but he progresses the ball very well and wins a lot of fk's in good positions, he's also shown that he can score goals when movement elsewhere frees him.
I think the in and out numbers look worse than the reality as we were unlikely to get anything from some of those we've moved on anyway.
