have been given an iPad mini, 16GB as a gift - never really thought about buying/owning a tablet before but as someone has been kind enough to give me one i thought i may as well put it to good use... so where do i begin? what can i use a tablet for which i can't do with my home pc? what are some good apps to get me going? any must do's before i get started etc etc

i do use an iPhone, so have iTunes already up and running on my pc (if that's of any significance)

Im not an apple fanboy btw :p

I download loads of comics and magazines to read on my google, comic rack is a good app for reading .cbr files

RDP is quite handy - then you can use proper apps on a real PC.

I've stopped taking my laptop abroad now, too much like effort. I have the MS wedge keyboard and mouse and I use Office 365. All my docs are in the cloud now anyway so I have what I have in the office.

They're also good for responding to email in batches. I tend to leave most of my non-urgent emails for most of the day. If I want to leave a bit early I just answer them from my tablet while the wife watches antiques programs on tv. Much easier than using a phone.

hmmm been thinking of taking a look at the Walking Dead comics (or is it graphic novels?) - can they be acquired for er less than retail price? 8-[

I got given one too. Wouldn't buy one.

Surf the net.
Watch movies.
Listen to radio and Spotify.

As a satnav?

If you have sky, Sky Go app.

I'm a bit obsessed with the ipad version of 8 ball pool on miniclip at the moment as well. :)

Depends where your home computer is located.

I sit and use mine to play games, browse the internet when I'm watching TV and chat on here when the matches are on.

It's basically replaced my laptop.

Yup. Doesn't sound like there's much difference between the two anyway:

This day also marks the launch of the pay edition of ComicRack for Android.

It is essentially the same as the free edition with two distinctions:

Those pesky ads are gone :)
The full edition supports additionally to the USB synchronization also wireless sync. So now you can update your device with just one click of a button.

Maybe the iPad just has the single, paid version though.
