Interim manager thread 2.0

I believe they will do something to try and get us out of this mess. Billionaires don’t become billionaires by standing by watching when their asset could lose 30% of its value or whatever (appreciate the Lewis kids were born into it but the point stands).

It’s about timing now IMO. Get a new man in the door now and it’s a rotten start for him. On the flip side, while we have some time, we don’t have much so we can’t fanny around for too long.

Will be amazed if Tudor is in the dugout v Forest.
The flip side of that is they sat around twiddling their thumbs until a few weeks ago when action was needed months ago and definitely needed in January. I wouldn't trust them with any decision beyond what's for dinner.

You're right but the difference is, in January, the common consensus was that we would stay up and wouldn't get involved in a dogfight. Some supporters may have been worried but nobody outside the fan base really believed we'd be in danger.

Even at that, the rumour is that Lewis' daughter wanted Frank gone after West Ham.

They'll act, in my opinion.

To me you could see it when we played Chelsea at home and Arsenal away
Both games where teams within inferior resources did much more than we did to lay a glove on than sides. To be the team with 3 of the least effective attacking performances this season (and club history) all before Christmas was scary to see

They should've seen or been informed that the squad was fudged in January due to injuries and short term deals were required. Either they didn't act or Vini and Lange didn't push them on it. Whichever it is heads should roll for it.

I think they will act too, after the Liverpool game. I just hope they don't go with some leftfield choice again and go with someone who has experience of the PL.

Chelsea was as angry as I was ever leaving that ground. I was spitting fire. I still wouldn't have sacked Frank then TBH. I think my support for him weakened massively after Forest but broke after West Ham. I think it was only the fact we played Dortmund on the Tuesday after that they kept him. Had we lost that, he'd have gone but we unexpectedly went and produced a good performance.

The Chelsea game was the one that made me sit up and take notice. That performance just didn’t smell right and the reaction of VDV and Spence at the end showed it wasn’t a happy camp. Pretty much everything in the league since City away has been a struggle.

The warning signs were there fairly early, the owners really shouldn’t have let it drag on so long

You think that Crooked Joe is still pulling the strings or has he granted his nepo babies carte blanche?

Honestly have no clue mate. Even if he has relinquished full control, I can't imagine he hasn't given them an opinion.

When you're sailing towards the rock of financial ruin, you do what you can and whatever it takes to change course.

There is a massive gap in experience, knowledge, nouse, intuition... between self made and nepo.

Hopefully JL still has their ear.... otherwise it could be captain of the Titanic stuff.

If we were sacking him it would be done by now.
Agree to an extent. Maybe they're thinking if we employ someone now then whoever comes in is pretty likely to lose their first three games, Atleti x2 and Liverpool. Then negativity spirals furthermore. Maybe wait another two games

I mean, is it worth "throwing" next season in the PL by getting this maniac in, if it saves us from relegation? One would have to think so.

But this is a summer appointment being talked about. Meaning he won’t be involved in our relegation battle. (That’s what the headline implies. I haven’t read the article).

What surprises me is that fans talk about Sherwood as a realistic interim option. He is probably the most divisive character you could ever bring to Spurs right now, but they still promote his name.

De Zerbi is at least a proper football coach. He didn't wait until he was 40 and then realised he could stick pins in an AVB doll to steal the manager's job, and then realise he didn't have any coaching qualifications or talents required.

I admired what De Zerbi did at Brighton but simply don't know enough about his personality. Is it perhaps overstated or is he really that hard barsteward who takes no prisoners?

Agreed. What I find interesting looking back is that the media and pundit coverage of the Spence / VDV incident was all about Frank needing to learn that you can’t make big players wave to the fans after a loss in a derby, but that he’s a good coach and will be better for it.

Almost none of the coverage actually considered that after putting in literally one of the worst in possession performances ever, the players were fuming because of what they’d been asked to do. This was a big warning sign and after 3 months into the season, we were looking that bad. I’m genuinely surprised someone at the club didn’t come down on Frank at that point. I wonder if the relationship between the players and anyone in a board role / Lange was so utterly broken that the information flow between the squad and decision makers just wasn’t there. Or maybe there’s been such a concerted effort to reduce ‘player power’ after Jose and Conte that efforts weren’t even made to understand what was happening.

Get him in for the rest of the season. If he does a good job then keep him. The most important thing at this point is staying up, everything else comes a distant second

Combined Xgs vs Bournemouth, Chelsea and Arsenal of less than 0.5 goals iIRC

That showed no plan at all to score goals and a was a toxic trait
And it’s not got better really under Igor
