Injuries

Yet a bunch of people on here want us to replace our current manager with the manager of Bournemouth....

Liverpool's stats are also broadly similar to ours and yet they are fine. Is that because they have a bigger, better squad than us or could it be that they have just been less unlucky with injuries?
Pool lost Konate but obviously have a lot of cover there with decent experience
And lost Allison… with great cover
Of they lost VVD or Salah they would have an issue big they have ample cover currently of proven capability

Hmmmm..... I'm not particularly convinced.

We've used 25 players in the PL this season (joint 5th most). Chelsea have used 24, Liverpool, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Aston Villa 23, Emirates Marketing Project 22.

The only team above us in the table to have used more players than us is Brighton (who have used 28 players).
The number of players used doesn't really tell anything. We've a good few players that would have their total combined mins being less than 3 games total (I'm sure other teams will have the same). A team that doesn't run as much and more importantly sprint as much as we do is not going to need to rotate and use as many players to avoid injury and fatigue. Rotating more would've helped avoid some of the muscle injuries that we are getting.

Yes, we've had bad luck with the injuries, but we haven't helped ourselves in this regard.

Personally, I think the only real issue in terms of rotation that Ange has shown is him being loathe to use Spence. Though considering Porro isn't one of our injured players, it hasn't really hampered us.

Otherwise he has rotated pretty well (and even been criticised for doing so, resting players against Galatasaray for example).

Not really in defence. In my opinion they also took a chance

VVD - immense but 33 years old
Konate - important player
Gomez - experienced, but questionable injury crisis
Quansah - 21 years old and only 20 first team appearances

Did I miss someone? I think this is how they started this season. Unless I'm mistaken they haven't really replaced Matip, who retired through injury. They went in with 4 from what I can see.

Put our centre half injury crisis on them and they'd be in the same boat. Do they even have an Archie Gray that can slot in? Perhaps, one of the full-backs but they don't really have a Fabinho anymore. I guess it would be Gravenberch, their key number 6.

It's not much depth for 4 campaigns in a season.

I agree but they have managed so far
Teams have to gamble in reality
Arsenal haven’t signed a striker
City haven’t signed anyone to cover full back
United haven’t signed any footballers
Chelsea only signed keepers (that’s a joke)
That’s the limitations now

Exactly, it's also why you have access to your academy. I reckon Pool would have no worries slotting in a Dorrington.

Slotting him in beside vvd, no issues.
Slotting him beside a 22 year CB with limited mins in the PL, not so easy.
Slotting him beside an 18 cm playing as a CB, would not be any different from us.
That’s the bit I think that keeps on getting missed
It’s why I put age and games down on the list of buys and sells I did
There has been a real leadership issue in the team and the defence for sure. It won’t get easier or better with even less experience there but you only get that by playing

Sorry, was not saying it was any different from us. We've already thrown Gray in there. In fact, we are on similar models because Quansah has appeared as a talent at 18/19, been loaned out and come back and is now being integrated in the 1st team. Phillips is on that same trajectory and I'm expecting Dorrington to be out on loan soon. Then there is Vuskovic incoming, and Davies end of contract.

We're about to find out whether we nurture or buy again.

Very fair
And we are a year behind on that front

Was certainly not having a go.
I do feel some of negativity atm is due to a media narrative.
If we reversed the situation in the Liverpool game, take out Alison and vvd and gomez, put them up against kane and son and we won 6-3 carra would be going about how great Liverpool were, how they never gave up, played the Liverpool way and showed real character.
The PL this year is nuts, it's so unpredictable, the bookies must be loving it.
Who can honestly say that they could have predicted any never mind of the following,

Forest 3rd
Forest and Bournemouth ahead of city, utd, us, villa, Saudi Sportswashing Machine
City outside the EL spots
Brighton 10th
Man u 14th.

Any of those are shocks, all of them is mind boggling.

The money in the PL now means that the lower level clubs can afford players that even big clubs in Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Portugal cannot afford. This gives them really competetive teams. When those clubs do not have to play two games a week they are able to beat the bigger teams, who's players are playing with much more fatigue. The only way around that is for the bigger teams to either have much bigger squads that allow a lot more rotation (Chelsea?) or, perhaps, a way of playing that allows them to conserve energy (Emirates Marketing Project/Arsenal?)

Do you think it might also be because we're deservedly 11th in the league?

Which specific media narrative are you referring to?

That the focus is on us, we are deservedly where we are, as are utd, as are city, neither villa or Saudi Sportswashing Machine are pulling up any trees despite being further along in their "projects".
But our fans make a lot noise so we are an easy target for the media.
You would think we were the only team in crisis atm.

The media always have a club to focus one
The one big club in need of doom
It’s us today

The media narrative is that the focus is on us? That can't be what you mean so i guess asking for a specific one was a step too far, it's just "wot u reckon", which is fine....

The media's MO is to observe and report on what's interesting, that doesn't make it a narrative. Maybe you read more articles than I do, I haven't seen us being targeted in the way you are suggesting. If it's negative coverage it's because of the reality of the situation. Would you prefer there only to be positive happy clappy noise about how we'd be as good as everyone else if only it weren't for X/Y/Z.

People (Spurs fans and otherwise) do like to pile in on us because we're considered a fairly entitled fan base with delusions of grandeur. Our recent "glory days" don't even have any actual glory in them and we were hoping to get in the big breakaway European league for being also rans. Always the best on paper but brick on grass for the most part.

As for Villa and Saudi Sportswashing Machine, I'm sure you can find some negative coverage if you look hard enough, why that'd make you feel any better is beyond me.

Ange's style is high intensity, saw this at Celtic.
What I noticed was he made changes around the hour mark to freshen things up and keep the tempo going. Maybe easier to do in Japan and then Scotland when his team would usually be leading but he rarely does it with us even when we've been comfortably ahead in some games.

I don't need to feel better thank you very much.

The media have a narrative that they push, that's their job, not a job to be proud of in my opinion, but hey they have a living to make.
They are focusing on us despite their being several other clubs not performing to expectations, some considerably worse than us.
But our fan base makes it easy for them, because as you say and I said in the original post we have a fairly solid section of them that are whingeing, entitled want it all nows.
