That's where my Dad was stationed, in remote area where they "never spoke english" to the troops, but managed to read English papers, listen to radio and sell things to them. He did learn some basic Welsh and could sign Cwn Rhondda.

The more the league moves forward the more it's about money. It always has been, but it's getting worse and worse. We all hate the scum. But at least them and Liverpool have shown you can run a club properly and contend.

We have the supporters. We do well financially as a club.

Please Levy. Just fully back a manager once. Everything else you have done is amazing. The stadium, the training ground, the money coming into the club. I still remember the dark days when we almost went out of business.

But once. Just once. Can we buy two -three pure proven quality players. Make an actual push at the title. Just once in my life would be nice.

I would give anything for it to happen. I can handle one and done. Then a smattering of cups.

Great idea. As soon as you donate £300-400m to the club, I'm sure they'll make it happen😄

Interesting.

Given that it wouldn't have been that long since the powers that be of the time were having Welsh kids beaten for having the audacity to speak Welsh in schools, perhaps there was still some understandable ill will towards the English / the military...

If you could do away with the rain (or just ensure that it all falls down overnight) North Wales is paradise if you ask me, stunning place and great people.

No ill will to the money they spent, they were probably looking forward to the Nazi victory and the freedom they would enjoy within the third Reich.

Ah yes, people always forget that Wales was a key part of the axis of evil, that just slips under the radar for most folks doesn't it? A well known hotbed of Nazis and fascist ideology, skinheads everywhere, even the sheep.

What an odd way for the conversation to turn, that's GG post season I suppose.

It's fair to assume that the "English and their military" would have tried to defend Wales in WW2 and perhaps the population could welcome them instead of ostracising the young men away from home. I've dislike the ideology that the "English" are responsible for all the evil in the world when any rational person should be able to understand that it is the ruling class/group in every nation that make the decision and force their will on others.

Yes, within reason. Levy won't put us in a situation where we spend so much we can't do business in January or next summer, but what is there to be spent is there to be spent.

Ange seems quite clear that he's happy with the plan for the summer. Hopefully he will be happy with what actually happens too.

Anyone can invent a hyperbolic ideology in their head and then get triggered by it but it's probably best sticking to what's actually been brought up in conversation. The real life context of what happened not so long ago, that was likely pertinent to the situation you were describing is hardly out of left field. The ruling class may make the decisions but the lackeys had to actually go and enforce it. It's easy to suggest to forget about systematic oppression and attempting to erase a culture when it's your ancestors who did all the heinous stuff I bet.

Any further exploration of this is definitely best for random so I'm happy to sweep this one under the carpet ;)


On the thread topic, I'm not sure what I'd give to have Spurs win something. Not sure if daemonic pacts are the way to go, hopefully we can just get their via natural routes of progression. Hopefully Ange with a season under his belt and a calculated transfer window can transform us in to the unit that can look to win honours.
