It doesn't seem at all possible to me that Lamela can make the WC now, unless Argentina are very light in his position(s) or have such high regard for him that they take him anyway. And I can't believe they can afford those kinds of luxuries, or that they don't have a tonne of good players gagging for a spot.

No chance he'll be at the World Cup. Argentina aren't going to take any passengers to Brazil, and that's all he'd be for them given how long he's been out. Shame for the lad as it could be the only South American World Cup in his career. Turning out for Argentina in a Rio World Cup match? Or Sao Paolo? That'd be one of the highlights of any player's career.

There is the small matter of him being injured too. I can't believe that we will sell any of last summer's signings given the poor management we have seen at the club by our last two managers and the money we spent on these players.

More likely Levy will attempt to appoint another manager - his last appointment I feel , one way or another!

the way Sherwood spoke it seemed Lamela was laid up in bed with his back problem.....i dont know if youve ever had a real back injury because even simple keepy uppies can aggravate the issue

What was it he said that made it sound like Lamela was laid up in bed with his back problem?

Having read the interview Sherwood basically said he is not fit enough to play, which would make sense given how he hasn't played for a while. So I'd guess that he is either doing solo training and gym work to work on his core strength or just strengthening exercises.

I just find it strange that he is able of doing some ball work but not taking part in training. We don't see pictures of the lad at training presumably because it's still too intense for him but given that footage you'd at least expect to see him there doing something else.

I'm telling yer, this year was Liverpools turn.. Gerrard on last legs, 34 next month, wants to win a title, Hillsbrough anniversary blah blah all falls into place. Great story. I bet anyone Gerrard retires if they win.

Lamela will be a superstar next year and the talk will be 'that's what they missed last year!'

Me too. If the kid is struggling/can't be arsed to learn English we should be doing what we can to help him learn English rather than taking the **** out of him in the press
