I am gareth bale

Aaaaaaand there's the problem!
Why is it that YOU'RE right? Why is YOUR c- word the only definition of what he does?
If you met him and he gave you another explanation (which he has in the papers) would you insist that he was lying andvtell him he's a seriel cheat?

He can call it what he likes. He goes down like a sack of spuds, time and time again, when he hasn't been touched. If that isn't cheating then what is? The worst part remains that: he doesn't need to it and it doesn't help our cause.

I mean, I never understood why Klinsmann used to do it either. That infamous dive in the World Cup final, for example? Why? He'd actually gone past the defender and would have been in a good position to get a cross into the box. The problem was, he'd already got it into his head that he was going to go down no matter what. It was just part of his game. And he got a player sent off in a world cup final, for that? Well, I'm sure he was proud!

It is noticeable then that when he came to England and realised it was considered unacceptable here, he didn't or rarely did it. That is why it is so frustrating to see people come out with such lame excuses for Bale and basically accepting it as just part of our game now. You are only encouraging him and others to do the same.

The strange thing about Bale is that he says he dives to get out of the way of tackles but for a lot of the time he is trying to draw fouls and runs directly in to fouls. A good example of this is one from last season at the emirates when he won the foul that set up our winner. He waited for the defender to commit himself and in my mind had no intention of actually staying on his feet. Freddie Ljungberg used to do this a lot at arsenal where hed kick the ball practically out of play and go down under whatever contact there was and would get a free as the defender didnt get the ball.

Also, if we are going to have a go at Bale, what about Benny or Walker who have also dived a lot.

What do people expect? Since over seas players entered the game in igher nunmbers, it was inevitable that this was going to happen! The diving, the petulance, the waving of imaginary cards has entered the psyche of British players as a consequence. Diving has always been present in the English game, but no-where to the extent that it is present today. Cheating, by conning referees has always been more acceptable in other foootball cultures and now, judging by some of the above comments, it is finding a new home here. Some people on here laugh at Liverpool fans and their blind support of Suarez, but these same people support Bale. In truth, some of his antics are embarrassing, VDV and Benny too.

Gary.

The view from the daily mail corner. It's the foreigners fault that our players cheat dive and get in fights and sexually assault women, the foreigners made them do it!

I cannot recollect Bale going to ground without being touched - as someone claimed above.
Calling hima cheat is pathetic. There is nothing in the rules of football about having to try to stay on your feet under any circumstances.
The cheats are the players who take a swipe at him without any hope or intention of getting the ball (e.g. Gibbs or the RM lad in the clip above).
That is against the rules.

The RM lad Alonso that was motionless when Gareth Bale rubbed his leg against him and went flying in agony?

It's fudging astounding sometimes, it really is.

Welcome to the board and everything, but fudging hell.

It's the same stunt the Liverpool fella did the other week: ignore the ball, run straight at Bale as if you're going to kick him up in theair, then pull up at the last split secvond.

New levels of madness ensue...we actually have people here suggesting that Gareth Bale often runs at people so as he can dive for a decision...can we all agree that this assertion is laughable? I mean, Gareth Bale runs at people simply so as he can 'cheat', NOT so as he can perhaps go past them and create a chance...

lol @ 'Stunt'? Bale is already diving over his foot when it arrives. Freeze frame at 8 seconds.

...because Gareth Bale, at 6ft whatever and 170 lbs, moves at freeze-frame speed!!!!!
I have no problem with a difference of opinion, but when it's just an inflexible, only-one-view sanctimonious refusal to accept there might be another reason (especially when the player himself, uninitiated, has come out and said he doesn't) is what gets me...

(just to be clear Harry, that 'sanctimonious' wasn't necessarily at you mate, just a general comment with general reference to what I see as wholly inflexible viewpoints)...

It is nothing to do with the speed of Bale, he is already going down before the foot even arrives. This answers the point about never going down without being touched. It is just semantics about 'cheating'. Call it what you like, he goes down when he hasn't been touched.

"...hasn't been touched"...really...so there is no contact at all, right? None. And speed has nothing to do with it...by the way, once again, look at Alonso closely and imagine playing at full speed...

Actually, don't bother. You won't see it any other way. Enjoy your lofty perch...

Speed has nothing to do with whether his touch brought him down or not. He either did make contact to bring him down or he didn't. I think it it is pretty clear that he didn't. He is already going down when Alonso's foot is arriving. Nice timing to con the ref but on other occasions the player has pulled out and he is left flying through mid air.

Why is this any different for you? I'm just giving my opinion and so are you. No need to start going on about lofty perches just because I don't agree.

You're right. We just a have a different way of stating it. I misinterpreted yours, so apologies for that, it was not clear to me you were simply exchanging opinions...

Whatever, let's hope he plays a blinder right now!!!!!!

COYS!!!

I think the Stevenage game at WHL sums up his attitude a bit. Right before HT he gets clattered by a ridiculously clumsy challenge, gets nothing from the ref and almost has his leg broken for nothing. Early in the second half sees another one incoming in the exact same position, what does he do ? Pulls out a bit and maybe makes sure the ref notices. Its not pretty, but if you want to protect your own interest it is just something that has to happen.

The premier league is full of cheats and thugs, whether solid defenders or skilled attackers. This idea that the Spanish and Italian leagues are much worse is actually pathetic.
People here dont accept it here though that is the difference, however that is irrelevant as they dont accept the oppostion doing it. We overlook it in our own teams. Even today watching Everton, a quite solid team with so called hard players but if you look at each incident they are no better than any other team when it comes to play acting, even with their hard men Heitenga and Cahill sometimes they are powder puff aswell.

Read the post properly. I never said it was the foreigners fault. Ultimately British players are responsible for their behaviour as much as any other nationality. If you had watched the English game in the 70's you would not have seen players go down as easily as they do today and the tackling was much tougher then too. Watch European football and it is simply a fact that they, (the players and fans) are more accepting of the histionics, the diving, the time wasting, the card waving, the surrounding the ref and over time it has now become more acceptable in Britain. I put that down to the fact that they are playing here in greater numbers and passing these bad habits on. That is not to say that they didnt exist before, but they were not as commonplace.
