Have We Got The Worst Atmosphere In The Country

What a contrast in Frankfurt last night.

58000 show up for a team in terrible form and a CL game that has no meaning for their team.

Yet, I hear no booing (apart from Muani), just constant singing/support for 90mins and a plethora of banners and flags.

I don't know if they're all just happy clappers?
Maybe Social Media hasn't reached Germany yet?
Or simply everyone receives an MDMA pill at the turnstile? :)

Whatever, isn't life just a bit better this way?

I thought our away crowd was very quiet last night. Pockets of singing but nothing like I would expect or normally hear at away games.
I don’t really like all the orchestrated support that we see from some European teams but I have to say, visually, the Frankfurt fans put on quite a spectacle with their scarves.

Gotta be honest, not a fan of that non stop singing that bears no relation to what's going on on the pitch

brick crowds is just a modern English thing. Probably caused by ticket prices causing ageing crowds.

Go to any random Czech or Portuguese or whatever game and its much more like how Frankfurt were. And always noticeably younger and more mixed sex.

But you can sit away from that...and just appreciate that a big section of 'support' is balls deep in the unconditional backing of the team.

Plus, I'm sure they're capable of reacting to onfield events?

I went regularly to WHL since I stopped playing in 1979 and have never booed a Spurs side, player or manager but I have seen and heard plenty of under 40's doing it.

Whilst I agree with Ricky’s initial sentiment I also 100% agree with this, European support is very contrived and orchestrated, I love the spontaneity of a British crowd (not ours at the moment, but a happy version!).

I love the spontaneity and humour of a British crowd, but we have the European style in Japan and I’d take that every day of the week over what we see at THS these days. Even many songs in support of the team/player end up denigrating/including someone else (all I care about is Kulusevski, we’ve got Alli, oh Ledley, Ledley etc)

Perhaps if Frankfurt's recent poor run of form turns into a prolonged negative spiral spanning multiple years and managers then their fans shall become equally disheartened...

Reminds me of being a travelling away England fan in Glasgow of all places. It was just after the Sottish vote to leave the union.

The England fans were behind the goal and just sang "You're British til you die."

Best chant ever.

Well sort of. I managed to get to Stoke away at the end of Peter Crouch's career. Again the fans were behind the goal. When Crouchie was subbed on and they won a corner, the entire Spurs end went into "You're Tottenmham til you die". Crouchie couldn't keep a straight face and just waved to the Spurs fans. Brilliant.
