Harry Kane MBE

Or not sell him and have one of the top 3 forwards in the world for at least 3 more seasons.

Yep, we seem so far away from valuation I really don't see this happening

This isn't Berbatov/Keane/Carrick where the gap was probably a few million, the gap right now is £50M/£60M (plus bonuses)

City has played their hand, can't drop an opening bid of £100M on Grealish (a player who's market value btw is £65M) and claim poor after.

I'd rather we don't sell but if we are going to it needs to not be ob the last day of the window. That will fudge our entire season.

If we are selling him it needs to be done to a deadline.

Depends if it's a Berbatov or Bale situation.

If we genuinely don't want to sell then don't cave in at the last minute because of player pressure (Berba). If we're resigned to losing him and are spending on the team accordingly (Bale) then it doesn't matter when he leaves.

Fair on the bale comment.

Berba situation can not be allowed to happen again. That was a load of nonsense.

Do you not remember what happened when we left it late and sold Berba on the last day of the window? It meant we had no time to find a replacement.

This time we don't even have a backup striker. We need to just sell him for a decent amount and with decent timing if we have any intention of being serious this summer.
One example doesn’t really mean much. We have a very capable director of football in place who has clearly got several players lined up in all positions for all eventualities. And the best bit is he seems to be getting us involved in quality names, the likes of Romero I never envisaged we’d have a shot at. Same as the Fiorentina forward we are apparently keeping tabs on.

Either way I’m very relaxed with the Kane situation. Keep him? Happy days, he’s not going to down tools he is far too concerned about scoring records. If he’s sold it will be for stupid money and potentially selling him only a year or so before he’s reached his peak and we have a DoF who I have full confidence would take advantage of the market to strengthen the team to a point it’s potentially better than with Kane there, as great as he is…..

I don't think we'd let another Berbatov situation happen and tbh our spending, or rumoured spending, hasn't convinced me we're behaving how we did the summer Bale was sold.

I'd expect to be seeing well over 100m net of transfers happening before I'd be thinking Kane's on his way out

Yes, I agree. Our transfer activity seems to be heading towards only a small net outlay and with Kane staying. If we really thought he was off I'd like to think we'd be looking at many more expensive players

It strikes me that over the last 2 years Kane's relationship with the club appears to have become more of a transactional one than a relationship of deep rooted feeling and emotion. i.e. you pay me well and I'll score lots of goals for you. He's felt like Harry Kane the World Class Striker moreso than Harry Kane the local boy from Chingford playing for his boyhood club.

I think from his perspective there's less emotion to this than we are feeling.

He is/was a Woolwich fan. Don't believe the PR story. fudge sake, I'd rather cut off a limb than turn up to White Hart Lane in a Woolwich shirt on the day they lift the league on our patch. Especially with that Judas clam leading the way. And at 10 or 12 years of age I'd have been more trenchant in that view. Probably would have cut of two limbs at least.

Kanes a pro and a very good one. But he's driven and there is a selfishness associated with that. He wants trophies and we can't meet that ambition. Emotion sort of plays second fiddle to that. By the way, I thought he was genuinely upset at the end of the Villa game thinking that was his last game in our colours at home. Great pro, great lad, great player but not really one of our own.

Id imagine it's more than a bit different if you're in the game and play for the team in question.

Ok, but I'm not sure that makes a difference tbh

So the club your family supposedly dislike more than any other and who binned you off after a year. You’re gonna wear their jersey down White Hart Lane as they win the league despite the fact you’re a Tottenham fan? Never happening.

Kane’s Woolwich and always has been. Same as Carragher, Gerrard and Fowler are Everton. Doesn’t diminish Kane in any way for me. Remembering all the derby goals he scored for us as well as the other brilliant moments…he can be whatever he likes. Best player I’ve ever seen in our shirt.

Idk or care who he supported as a child tbh, I'm just saying a photo of an Arsenal youngster (ex or otherwise) wearing an Arsenal shirt at a parade isn't absolute proof of anything as when you're in the game it's a different kettle of fish

He was at whl in an scum kit in 2004? Where is that from?

The only thing that leaves a sour taste in my mouth is how he wants to fudge off to win things but didn’t turn up when it mattered for us. He has had the opportunity to really put himself into that top tier of footballers and has bottled it. You can claim its a team effort but Lewandoski carried Dortmund to that champions league final aswell as pretty much carrying his country and turns up in the big games yet Kane doesn’t really do any of them.

Scoring a few goals against Arsenal and Chelsea doesn’t count as big goals, you can probably list 10 players in the league who have good scoring records against the elite clubs.

Yea not heard that one either?

i thought the photo taken of him in the goon kit was at a victory parade while he was still an Arse youth player?

The jungle drums have moved on a bit if he’s now supposed to be one of the Arsenal fans in the stadium in 2004? One of the top 3k Arsenal fans with enough loyalty points to go to the game? Hmm not sure!!
