Harry Kane MBE

Another move up the Spurs charts for Harry today. In good company.

Moved ahead of Garth Crooks, level with Martin Peters and one behind Steve Archibald

I'd like to see that compared to minutes played too as Kane started out as a sub and wasn't scoring and doesn't always play the 90

Henry 59 goals from 7703 minutes played = 131 mins per goal
Kane 59 goals from 7772 minutes played = 132 mins per goal

Although, since his first start again Stoke back in November of 2014, Kane is averaging 128 minutes per goal in the EPL; which compares very favourably to the best strikers to have played in the English top flight over the past quarter of a century...

173 mpg for Torres
169 mpg for Klinsmann
169 mpg for Cole
169 mpg for Drogba
162 mpg for Giroud
157 mpg for Wright
154 mpg for Owen
147 mpg for Shearer
140 mpg for Sturridge
140 mpg for van Persie
139 mpg for Suarez
132 mpg for Costa
128 mpg for van Nistelrooy
122 mpg for Henry
108 mpg for Aguero

Brilliant... that's a great way of showing it a

Shearers start was phenomenal but his Mpg ratio tails off

fudging annoys me the way Sky and other media continually pluck out stats that effectively treat us all like imbeciles.

Why not show this table, it's the only one that properly compares apples with apples. Too fudging lazy.

Also, looking at that list, were not most of them already well-established stars before they arrived in the EPL? And did they not all play for top teams, thereby benefit from significantly more chances created per game?

If Harry played for one of the SkyFour they'd never stop creaming themselves.

This and this. Kane started from being a zero, a kid. Not from being a 25 year old proven international

I cannot find minutes played data for his time at Southampton but Shearer averaged 106 mpg whilst at Blackburn. Before dropping to 178 mpg at his struggling boyhood club.

The biggest drop off was Torres, who went from 122 mpg whilst at Liverpool to 341 mpg at Chavski.

Indeed, mostly big money signings in that list.

Although Cole was a similar age when he broke through at Saudi Sportswashing Machine and he averaged 121mpg over the course of his 43 Premier League appearances there. However he dropped to a relatively modest 165mpg over the course of his first 100 EPL matches, following a slow start to his ManU stint.

Fowler was up at 140mpg during the prodigious start to his career but ended his EPL career on 173mpg.

Three Tottenham players currently in the top 12 minutes-per-goal chart (minimum 6 goals scored):

104 mpg - Aguero (11 goals)
114 mpg - Costa (14)
118 mpg - Kane (10)
132 mpg - Ibrahimovic (13)
135 mpg - Sanchez (12)
145 mpg - Austin (6)
150 mpg - Lukaku (11)
161 mpg - Son (6)
163 mpg - Defoe (11)
168 mpg - Walcott (8)
169 mpg - Hazard (9)
171 mpg - Alli (8)
184 mpg - Mane (9)
185 mpg - Lallana (7)
186 mpg - Llorente (6)
186 mpg - Fer (6)
188 mpg - Benteke (8)
205 mpg - Antonio (8)
233 mpg - Rondon (7)
234 mpg - Snodgrass (7)

The way the BBC have listed those guys, makes it look like Leroy Fer is better than Eriksen. I guess one has to add assists into the mix and a HUGE sack of salt.

For a brief moment I thought mpg might have been Miles Per Gallon.

Didnt play so well today but the team won...

I thought he did ok but didn't carve out any real chances for himself. He was as industrious as ever and did well chasing the ball down and holding it up. But it's hard to create much when you have a blue shirt physically attached to you anytime you get near the penalty box. Unlike Ali who (fortunately) appeared to be unmarked much of the time.

He worked hard last night, closed down and hassled.

However just shows where we need strengthening another striker to help him when he isn't playing well.
