Harry Kane had 6 shots on target against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon and that is more than any other Premier League player in a single match this season.

He is now only 4 goals behind the Golden Boot leader Diego Costa having missed 7 weeks of the season. Not bad for a player some of our supporters were calling a Championship player in 2014!

There are only 3 sides he hasn't scored against, Manchester United, Warford and Cardiff City, who are no longer in the division.

I though Kane had a good game yesterday, more for the speed at which he played the ball back out to the channels, his speed of passing was top draw, especially in the 2nd half.

Doubt you'll find exact mpg stats for Smith and Greaves as such. Total minutes per game would not have been recorded because substitutes didn't come along until the mid-60s (just one per team) by which time Bobby had already hung up his boots. Jimmy never came on as a sub, though it is possible he was subbed off once or twice in his latter years.

As for time added-on, the ref pretty much blew the full-time whistle when he finally remembered to check his watch :eek:. Sendings-off were also relatively uncommon in those days.

So it's pretty much a case of (appearances x 90)/goals. Thus:

Greaves = 128 mpg (131 mpg in PL equivalent)
Smith = 132 mpg (138 mpg in PL equivalent)

Lineker scored 80 goals in 138 apps all told; 67 in 105 PL, but like you I have yet to find minutes played data.

Have now established that, like Greavsie, Lineker never came on as a sub either so on the basis of 90 mins per game we have the final piece of the jigsaw for SteveAWOL's excellent table:

Lineker = 155mpg (141 mpg in PL equivalent)
