Harry Kane MBE

So are you telling us all this" one of our own" " kissing the badge crap" " I love it here" by him is all untruths. o_O

I think they are true as of now. He looks like a really honest down to earth guy. Im hoping he is in the mould of a Mabbutt or King. And less of a Teddy or Judas. Badge kissing has got to a point you don't believe it. But words say a lot.

Bingo, as I have said its just **** stirring and a backhand dig at Levy ( again).

Not by me. I love Levy and think he's the best chairman in the EPL. What he has done for our club is magnificent and in 14 years too which isn't a great length of time really.

All I'm doing is keeping an open mind and seeing football for what it is these days. Money.

Football isn't the same as it was.

He's a chairman. His job is to make money. £50m for Kane replaced with £20m striker sees a £30m net profit.

It's my belief my opinion built on my opinion of Levys mindset.

I hope I'm wrong.

This is the bit that I do not get. The job of the chairman is to not solely to make money. Football clubs don't just make money from selling players.

Levy owns a portion of the club, not all of it. If we take this hypothetical as an example, then yes, the club does make a £30m profit. Levy won't get his hands on it though because as a shareholder this can only happen if a dividend is paid. We have not paid a dividend in years! Levy will be paid his salary regardless.

Sorry mate I was not pointing at you just those who have said Levy will sell if the money is big because he did with Berby, Modric and Bale. As I said in my earlier post using that as a reason he will/may is gonads as the situation is totally different ( at the moment).

personally I don't truly believe it from any player

I think they would all force their way out when they had a promise of real money from a bigger club, my assumption with Kane is that United just haven't communicated that to him yet

i'm sure he's happy now, but head's are easily turned by United

No he loves the club. He knows it's made him what he is today. I just hold the opinion that if he has a season like last we will go down the same route as Bale.

Yes as you say the difference is Kane hasn't gone public yet. If Levy got £50m for Kane and could replace him with a striker for £20m who wasn't in the same class as Kane I believe he would. He sees pound signs which is why I'm amazed he pulled the plug on the Ade to WHU deal in January. Money talks.

I don't think you understand Levy at all.

He may well see pound signs. But not in the way that you think.

He doesn't look at our best players and think, "I can make £40m there; and £30m there; and £20m there.....Let's sell and replace them with cheaper, inferior players". That might give him a short term gain but it would be entirely counterproductive to his long term goal.

The reality is that it is all about increasing the club's value for Levy. It is about our attractiveness to fans (meaning full houses and high ticket prices). It is about our attractiveness to corporate clients (ditto). It is about our attractiveness to sponsors (meaning increased commercial revenues). It is about our success on the pitch (meaning increased broadcasting and reward money including, possibly, Champions League income). Ultimately, of course, it is about our attractiveness to potential buyers. That is the end game for Levy.

And all of the above absolutely require that we keep our best players if we possibly can.

Really.........you should understand just how important a player like Harry Kane is to the bottom line at Spurs. It amounts to far, far more than his mere transfer market value.

I am the same, but some believe his heart is here and that he is proud to wear the shirt ( all his own words), personally I believe all that is over the top and mostly gonads. However the situation is different then it was with Berby, Modric and Bale and for some/others to compere them is as I say brick stirring.

Why should I?

As I said to another poster Jimmy you don't have to believe anything I say. Just let time take its course and see how it pans out. Hopefully he stays on til 2030 and goes on to be the clubs all time leading scorer.

Now that I could agree with, my point was that he will be going nowhere this window or the next and those who suggest if Levy gets the right offer he will sell him because of the usual gonads he did it with Berby, Modric, Bale is nothing more then a back handed dig at Levy.

yeah, I think what changes it is the back channel comms between the buying the team and the player, Bale was happy until he realised Madrid really did want him then he flipped like a switch, likewise Modric with Chelsea, Berbs and Carrick with Utd, Levy was put in a situation with only one real solution, sell

its a projected perception of loyalty, not a true one, and we shouldn't expect it to be as they are just professionals doing a job

IF Kane goes public that will/may change the situation, but I disagree that Levy will sell him unless Kane throws his toys out of the pram ( Berby, Modric, Bale) and I do not see that happening. We will see.

Agreed with your stance but I'd go further. Even if Kane were to act up, Levy would not sell him until next summer at the earliest. And even then, not to a Premier League rival.

100%.

My wording was wrong in my post, I also believe Levy would refuse to sell him.

With respect, I don't believe that you understand Levy's "mindset".

He is not interested in the quick buck. He is all about the long term goal. Selling Kane and replacing him for a cheaper, inferior player might realise a short term gain. But it would cost him far more in terms of damage to the club's value.

Jimmy if you wish to believe you understand Levys mindset better than me I'm ok with that. You certainly understand the financial side better than me as witnessed in the stadium thread for which your contribution should be commended by the way.

Lets just agree that we all hope Kane stays with us.

I'd expect United to toss another hand-grenade in our direction towards the end of the window in a further effort to unsettle the player, and I believe their motivations have as much to do with disrupting Spurs as they do with any genuine desire to have Kane on their playing staff. However, I think Kane knows that his greatest opportunity for development lies here, and that if he stays, he's likely to reap bigger rewards in the future as a result. I'd be absolutely astonished if he moves this window.
