Harry Kane MBE

Difficult to wish Harry well given that also means wishing Bayern & Tuchel well, but still I hope he wins the trophies he feels he needs to win, and I'm glad it's not at another English club.

Sad day, but he's given us a decade of incredible service and his legacy at Spurs is beyond question.

Let's make it all about "us" (i.e THST). They are turning into Liverpool fans.

I am hurt, I am angry, but, I was yesterday and it will take time to subside...BUT that I don't want is for the season to now be derailed by the Harry Kane saga and have things go on and on and on, including these off the field battles. Our season starts tomorrow, that should now be the focus for everyone. I don't like the timing of this, but as Kane said, it was time and the line gets drawn in the sand and we move on.

He's the best player on the planet, but we've coped fine without him for extended periods before, its a team game.

Richarlison was always the replacement, we are ready.

I hope Harry wins everything he wants to at Bayern and then Bayern are done for financial irregularities and Tuchel gets taken down with it and ends up at West Ham.
How does that work for you?

Retiring the no10 shirt? Are you having a fudging laugh? He hasn’t died. He is just one player, he is no bigger than the club.
I have no issues retiring it when he retires all together, in our 125+ year history he is our all time record scorer so deserves some respect/recognition. Also have no issues if we don’t mind you, but now is not the time to do it - not when he is still actively playing

Some on twitter suggesting we retire the no 10 shirt.
Considering some of the icons that have worn it it maybe fitting, but wouldn't seem like a proper spurs team without a no 10 on the pitch.
Even Santos decided not to retire the 10 and Pele's dead.
The 10 is such an iconic number anyway and probably the most highly sought after number for attacking players coming into a club I doubt any club would ever retire it.

fudging love this as it’s so true
People talk about it no longer being a working man’s game too

it can’t be because the money in the game has gone up and up in a non linear way…

players are getting paid more than ever, even if they are brick

transfer fees are getting bigger and bigger even if a player hasn’t played much football

it’s a gold rush basically

and the poor fudgers who suffer the most are the fans who go

we pay more at every club than we used too

the product gets changed to suit armchair fans at a whim. KO change with short notice is standard now

And it’s to feed the TV beast that expects it product with the money ending up lining the pockets of the players and agents.

I can’t think of a football owner off the top of my head who has made money (there will be some)

but there are many many players that have walked away form the game so rich is unreal

people will say they are the product. But they aren’t. It’s a package. Without the fans, the games are very very different. Almost computer simulations. And we pay the highest price economically and emotionally

They opened the Pandora box with the Champions League. Under pressure from Europe's biggest clubs, they threw insane (at the time) amounts of money at a handful of clubs creating a very uneven playing field in smaller countries. What they didn't realise is that they initiated an inflation on transfers and wages, so much so that breaking a record became a source of pride. I might add that, in our case, it's often turned out to be a disaster but that's another matter entirely.

To sustain that upward curve, they had to accept money from Russian oligarchs first, then whole countries. And for what? Who comes out of this a winner? You pay a lot of money to go to the games or even watch them on TV (it's reached the point where people have to pool together to buy a subscription in some countries). Everybody's buying in that stupid system because they hope to get their share: even smaller clubs either because they dream of getting a sugar daddy, just like they dreamt of breaking into the Champions League twenty years ago.

It could even be argued that football players themselves aren't happier than they were 40 or 50 years ago. They're surrounded with sycophants and parasites and their lifestyle is probably closer to a royal family's than a regular Joe's.

Fortunately, I believe we're in the last stretch. Nobody's going to top Middle Eastern countries. The few Silicon Valley tycoons don't care about 'soccer', fortunately, so it's going to end, one way or another. But they whole craziness wasted so much of our time! Think about it: we've been lucky to punch above our weight for almost a decade but what's the point of being an Everton fan, for instance? The closest thing they've had to entertainment was escaping relegation on a few occasions and qualifying once for the Champions League with Moyes. Right now, the Premier League is a Middle Eastern league, with two US consortiums and a bunch of also-rans, one of which may mix it up with the rich boys every now and then. And we (myself included) pay a premium to watch that.

This feels a bit link when Links went to Grampus Eight. A bit sad to see someone dropping down a level at what seems a bit of a premature juncture.
Yeah. Harry Kane should not be spending his Tuesday and Wednesday nights PLAYING champions league football when he can get a delivery, a vpn, and watch the paramount + Golazo seeing all the goals come in. What a waste.

Let’s at least give ourselves a few more hours to eulogize. Even though I did my best to prepare us all a few months ago that he was probably going to leave if Bayern made a proper offer, I’ve still been feeling the sting of his departure.

Although it hurts, IMO this is the best possible outcome considering there was no way his contract would be extended.

As a lot of you have already said, we say Auf Wiedersehen, and now we have to look to the future. I have faith in Ange, I just hope we back him with one more key signing so we have some chance to fight for some European places for next season.
