Effective birth control would alleviate the poverty crisis. A large percentage of aid donated to developing countries should be spent on this period.
Also spend that aid on educating people to realise the effects of bringing a child into the world.

There is a lot i disagree with on both sides of the discussion but that my friend is a great post.

Feed yourself what? Clothe yourself in what? I would certainly consider someone in this category to be living in poverty considering the context of living in Britain. Why don't you compare the situation of these people with the plight of London slum dwellers in Victorian times. Yes, they really lived in poverty. It makes about as much sense.

I should quantify my comment, it was as much semantics as anything. Using the same word to describe British poverty and African poverty just seems wrong, the two are so different.

Over half the world would kill to live in British poverty.

MP's have just voted to allow the bill to proceed for same sex marriage. That's one way to curb the population ....

96000 men with HIV

Half are gay

So the stats for heterosexual are incredibly low

I imagine many of the heterosexual men are hard core drug abusers

Huh!! Why are they not using protection if they have to do engage In Sexual activity. Wonder if this stat has been mentioned while they are debating the bill in the commons.
So in 10 years or less the % will increase and our kids will get taught sex education at school using gay as the normal family scenario. At least the birth rate will go down ...

How does that curb the population in any way shape or form?

it's not like the gay populace were sitting around thinking 'Oh dear, we can't get married, we may as well be straight and have children'.

The only thing that has changed is semantics.

All this does is allow men who were not previously going to biologically father children to marry each other.

In fact it's more likely a positive step than a negative one, if they can't father children the normal way they will have to adopt, which will hopefully reduce the number of children around who don't get adopted.

No surprise gay men are far more likely to have HIV, anal sex is far, far more dangerous in terms of transferring of STDs because of the risk of tearing.

Sorry if I'm being thick but I'm not sure what you are getting at (maybe I'm mis-reading) but how will gay marriage increase the HIV rate? very few people only have sex whilst married, gay and straight people will still have sex whether they are married or not.
Considering that the majority of married couples will be heterosexual I don't think schools will be teaching that as the 'normal' family scenario but will probably talk about all the different types of family set-ups.

This is true

The anus is designed for 1-way traffic ONLY

Lady gardens are better designed for 2-way action, and provide natural protection

Put simply, the arse is not a good hole for sex, which I guess is why MOST women abhor anal

Either that, or they're ****s!!!

Not sure if you're being serious, but if a HIV positive man shags a woman up the back passage she is far, far more likely to contract HIV than if he stuck to her lady garden

yeah but what if the man does not have aids and decides to do the woman bareback in the arse? then surely it would go down your odds of getting aids if she had it. or is lube the secret weapon against aids?

It's far more dangerous as the 'receiver'. A man would need an open sore or heavily chafed skin on his man parts for the likelihood of him catching it to get anywhere near statistically likely. Not to say it's impossible, just unlikely.

Thanks to the excellent work by a number of charities over the past 10 years or so, contraception is more readily available in areas of extreme poverty than you might think.

The biggest factor in population control is actually the education of women.
