It was way too easy to score, the US Open winner is supposed to finish on a few under, not 20 under. That is its DNA.
Fowler and Schauffele both shot a record low 62 for a US Open, on the first day, and then Fowler shot 68 to equal the lowest ever half way score, Kim equalled the lowest 9 holes, nobody shot over 80, Fowler was 10 under after 20 holes, one hole was only 81 yards.
It was too soft and should have been a sterner test. Wyndham Clark hit some poor shots on the closing stretch and got away with it without enough punishment, whereas McIlroy seemed to be more in control of his game.

Hmm maybe for the earlier rounds but I watched the last day, admittedly not the rest but there were alot of players hitting long irons and shots into hidden pins and having to hit worldies to get within real birdie territory on the final round. I get that's the name of the game, just made for a really non exciting final round

I will have a read of that article so appreciate the link, just the final round was a snooze fest IMO, poor set up

Yeah I took a decision on Thu Fri Sat Sun to go to bed at 11 and watch the 30 minutes highlights on youtube before checking my phone.
Was a good decision because it cut out all the adverts and faffing around that must have made it boring for Grays_1890 !

Yeh I made the mistake of watching it through in final day only to see the leader board effectively stay the same with no one scoring or dropping shots other than Fowler who played like Arthur
 
Played a very nice round at eden course just outside Carlisle.
Beautiful setting, very quiet, nice parkland course and a lovely course.
Just don't go to Carlisle, its like sodom and gomorrah for large people.
 
Watching The Scottish Open
Rory's 1st 2 drives, 373 and 348 yards right down the middle, his driving is the best in the game
 
Anyone any experience of playing the English courses on the open rota?
I've played all of Carnoustie, royal troon, and Turnberry a few times and would fancy making a trip to some of the English courses.
How easy are they to get on?

I've played a few because of a Mercedes Benz tour of competitions years ago. Played Old Head, Royal Lytham, Sandwich and St Andrews and Woburn. Also some lesser tour courses like Bearwood Lakes, The Grove, The London, Forest of Arden and Fairmont St Andrews

All utterly brilliant for golf lovers, Old Head was incredible, I think it's beyond expensive, is beyond tough but it rivals St Andrews, although I had a moment where I teared up sitting having a drink post round at St Andrews having thought of having fulfilled a life's ambition, taking it all in.

Difficulty varies on each, I have done some through YourGolfTravel and managed to when planning ahead, they are actually really reasonable considering its packaged, but it takes loads of faff out with hotels if you want them too. Some have differing codes which makes it stuffy in some more than others, but you take that as part and parcel although I had to almost buy whole new outfits for some including knee high socks etc haha

Hoylake and Royal Liverpool (2025) cost around £250 each to play and get booked up quite a way in advance

Golf Road in Kent is pretty decent too, in a row you have Royal Cinque Ports, Royal St George's and Princes
I have played the latter two and both were incredible, Princes isn't too expensive RSG cost me £225 years ago
 
Rory McIlroy has made it abundantly clear how he felt about short-lived proposals that he and Tiger Woods could own LIV Golf teams and play in at least 10 events a season.

"If LIV Golf was the last place to play golf on earth I would retire. That's how I feel about it," McIlroy said after an opening 64 in the Genesis Scottish Open, which is live on Sky Sports.

I'd love to play the old course but I'm resigned to it never happening, none of my mates would play it and i don't fancy teeing it up with strangers.
Some great courses on that list, always fancied old head and I've promised myself a golfing trip to Ireland one of these.

£250 seems the norm now.
Doesn't seem that long ago i paid £80 for a round at Carnoustie and £135 for a round on the ladies course, lunch and a round on the championship course at royal troon.
