Gareth Bale

Re: Bale's Dive Today

I kind of agree with you really. It's the rolling around and waving of imaginary cards that get me.

We all remember this:

Re: Bale's Dive Today

Will the people defending Bale please go back and look at the compilation of diving videos put together earlier in the thread, the Real Madrid one in particular and still tell us he doesn't dive.

As to the people saying he goes down partly because he moves so fast and it doesn't take much to knock him over, I'm not having. People had no sympathy for Ronaldo when he played in our league.

I actually think Bale's histrionics when he rolls about and bangs the floor counts against him when it comes to refs not taking a stricter view on players hacking him down. Suarez's reputation without question goes against him when he appeals for penalties, it's the same for Bale IMO. Only a matter of time until Bale doesn't get any free kicks.

Like I said earlier, Suarez got kicked to brick by Huth on Sunday, he even had stud marks on his chest as evidence, did Spurs fans have any sympathy for him?

It's been mentioned already, we are starting to sound like Liverpool fans with this persecution syndrome, always the victims, never our fault etc.

Some are defending the indefensible. It does mean you don't support your club if you think Bale dives. Head on over to the Liverpool thread, people are coating Brendan Rogers for defending Suarez, it's pot, kettle, black I'm afraid.

Not me.
I said the opposite in said thread.
I think Suarez does himself no favors, and quite what was going on against Stoke with that stop 'n' flop I do not know, but he was stamped on by Huth, Huth should've been marched and I think Rogers is doing what I would want my manager to do, deflect to the other equally present issue of mis-justice and then take the player into a quiet corner and gave him a lecture...

Stoke man hails Spurs ace as ‘one of the best in the world’

Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has heaped praise on Tottenham’s Gareth Bale before they go head to head for their countries.

Adam’s Scotland come up against Wales in their World Cup qualifier at Cardiff City Stadium on Friday night.

The pair clashed in a pre-season match this summer and Adam, who left Liverpool for Stoke City during the summer, is fully aware of the threat posed by Welsh wizard Bale.

The 26-year-old has warned Scotland that they will need to be at their best to stop the Spurs star.

“I think he’s one of the best players in the world, on his day,” Adam told the BBC.

“He’s good and he’s quick.

If we can stop him it will probably enhance our chances of winning the game.”

Right.
And let's see who's prepared to come here Saturday iF Bale has to dive to avoid getting clattered by that ****! let me be PERFECTLY clear. if someone does Charlie Adam I will be delighted. If Gareth Bale gets Charlie Adam sent off, I will be delighted. This is someone who has done him once and tried to do him again (not forgetting the 4-0 last season when he got his marching papers before he could get the job done)...yes, put me on record. If Gareth Bale dives near Charlie Adam, I 100% support him.
Flame away...

I would too.

Re: Bale's Dive Today

Redknapp: I would love to see retrospective bans for diving but I can’t see it working. It’s an embarrassing problem for the game at the moment and it’s not just a problem with foreign players. The Gareth Bale effort was as bad as Luis Suarez’s on Sunday. It’s so tough for the referees and maybe retrospective punishment could be effective in the long term. But in the short term, there would be chaos with lots of bans and confusion over what constitutes a dive.

Why the fudge did Harry not say something last season when he was manager if he thought it was so bad?

The problem with that is he has no credibility when he claims Suarez is the victim, even when he does get fouled. As for managers backing their players publicly, I would like to see more manager go down this route:

"Sir Alex Ferguson has "had a word" with Ashley Young amid diving accusations that have been levelled against the Manchester United winger. For the past two weekends, Young has received severe criticism for going down far too easily to earn his side penalties.

The United legend Bryan Robson has warned the former Aston Villa man that it may come back to haunt him as referees may be reluctant to award him spot-kicks in the future and Ferguson has confirmed he has spoken to the winger about the situation. "I have had a word with Ashley," the manager said. "He understands where we are coming from. Hopefully it makes a difference."

Unless he did everything he could to dissuade Bale from diving, he has to shoulder his share of the blame. But if he did it begs the question why he stayed silent on that point.

Notice the deafening silence at Liverpool and Tottenham about the two incidents.

Mostly because the clubs are learning that they can't win, no matter what they say.

I would wager that AshleyYoung is far less of a clown shoe than Suarez in that specific regard.

Very disapponiting comment to read all round, no offence.

The fact you've been promoted to a position of some sort of objectivity makes it even more bizarre to spout out such comments about purposefully aiming to injure players or 'do' someone and openly promote cheating in the game because someone got a few tough tackles in his career from a thick clogger. Lionel Messi is claterred week-in-and-out from every angle, yet I've never seen him dive or attempt to cheat/deceive the ref.

Perhaps people have a point after all - the current crop of Moderators and their take on football in general has reached a very strange plateau, imv - I've been on this forum for around 6 years and I have never disagreed more on football takes than ever before.

As a moderator you don't give up your right to have an opinion. All moderating decisions are made by the admins as a group, but we still retain the right to post as individuals on all other matters.

So, you expect anyone who is a mod to restrict their footballing opinions do you?

Why?

Utter tosh. Mods have every right to air their views on matters like this. It in no way debases their status as board controllers.

Once again, some of you need to realise we are fans and regular people too. As such, we have as much right to express a view that may not sit with everyone on here, but is an opinion nonetheless.

Imagine if we moderated to such an extent that we made noises over any slightly different viewpoint made by some posters on here. The end of free speech as we know it?

Re: Bale's Dive Today

I think Adams tackles were so bad you can see the point Steff is making. I do not want to see any human being in pain, period. But in terms of justice, of what goes around comes around, then I can see the logic behind it.

If Adams broke his leg because of a bad tackle on him I'd find it hard to be too sympathetic.

Re: Bale's Dive Today

Don't think wishing injury on Adam is that bad when you consider one of our lineup of mods wished death on one of our own players in recent times.
