we just destroyed the transfer system we had in place...anythings possible now. aint non of us safe
If I were Bale I would just seem my contract out and go on a free. He would be 26 at the end of his third season, I am sure Madrid could offer a sign on fee to make it worth his while
Sky Sports understands again....

LOL, that Sky story is like the 'Wayne Rooney is angry and confused' story. Agents trying everything they can to make it as difficult for the contracted club.
The thing is, if anything was imminent, Madrid and Barnett wouldn't see the need to do what they are doing with the media. Negotiations would be coming along, and the sheer ferociousness of the media coming against us wouldn't be needed. The fact that they are doing all this shows the club are as strong as ever.
Still stunned that Bale has had his head turned though. The move must have been on the cards for next summer. I really can't believe he thinks that if he keeps up his performances, becomes a massive global brand and earns rave reviews again that Madrid would just say 'well we said now or never last summer, so we aren't coming back'. Of course they bloody would.
I'm with Steff on this whole saga. Something ugly has happened and continues to go down.
Tottenham demand £100m for Bale as owner Lewis takes over talks with Real Madrid
By MARK RYAN
Tottenham owner Joe Lewis will take control of talks over the sale of the Welshman to Real Madrid — and he will not settle for less than £100million in cash for his star man.
The Bahamas-based billionaire will meet Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in Miami or Phoenix, along with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
An insider said: ‘It isn’t just Daniel Levy involved now. It is Joe Lewis who is going to be facing Perez at the negotiating table. He wants to meet Perez and resolve the Bale situation.
‘The main outstanding issue is one of cash, rather than the question of which player, if any, comes to White Hart Lane from the Bernabeu. The sides are still some way apart.’
Lewis knows Perez is under massive pressure to land Bale for Madrid and Real may try to negotiate payment of the transfer fee in instalments to avoid falling foul of the financial fair play rules.
But if the Spaniards want five years to complete payment, Spurs could try to push the transfer fee up to £120m.

We are bringing out all the big guns to deal with Real Madrid ! :ross:
Oh my GHod...not Joe Lewis............hes a money man is'nt he?
goodbye Bale..................................................................................................
hes not really interested in the football...........but just the money!
He's interested in making Tottenham as a club worth more. A short term input like the money for Bale won't interest him.
I genuinely think he is erring on the side of caution. Does he suspect he will have as good a season as the last? It would be extremely difficult to achieve especially without the CL football to give him the stage and platform to achieve greater things than the last.
He could've done that by investing in a striker at any point during the last three years.
