I find it so sad that people on here are just ready to cave in and sell one of the worlds best players....If we have been sitting on this 85m bid for a week it tells me that we are fighting hard to keep Bale which of course has the added bonus of potentially getting an improved bid.

what should Levy/Lewis ultimately decide? what is the easy option? cash in? or stand our ground against the juggernaut that is Real Madrid, Perez, Zidane, Marca etc.

The easy option/road to take is to cash in at 85m + none of us would hammer Levy as most on here would say its too good to turn down. we could reinvest money, put it to the stadium and so on....some of us are already planning for life without Bale, lining up replacements...saying the club will go on and so on.

Of course we will carry on without Bale but I still want Levy to choose the difficult path this summer rather than the easy one.....let the world watch as lil old spurs stand up to Madrid and say the magical word they cant seem to grasp....no!. It wont be easy for Levy/AVB to manage a disappointed and frustrated Bale, it wont be easy for Levy to communicate with Bale's agent/family when they think he's the Grinch, it wont be easy when some fans question his methods as to whether we should be turning down this amount of money....conversations with Lewis will be interesting...... what are the potential rewards? well we have already made smart moves in the market and if we get the striker deal done we can have a good crack this season, anyone who doesn't think Bale will knuckle down after sep2nd and replicate last seasons form has an incorrect perspective of the player in my opinion.

I understand his form may drop and heaven forbid serious injury but as a fan of this club I am not ready to toss aside this amazing player we have for all of Madrids gold!!!

selling an amazing player that you have and hoping a replacement can fill the void is a massive gamble. if this sort of player comes around once in a blue moon then lets as a team striving for greatness prove that we have the guts to stand up for ourselves and fight for what we have.

I for one hope Levy has to swim through a river of brick so he can come out smelling of roses when he gets to the other shore....it wont be easy he may even feel a little stressed. But please Daniel don't give up.......we are in the spotlight and the world is watching....imagine the respect that would come our way if we fought off Madrid and their underhand tactics.

Modric won't the same player if he comes back plus we don't need him anymore. Replacing Bale is pretty much impossible for a club like us.

Arm round the shoulder from AvB, persuade him to do one more season, crack the top four then maybe we'll let him go at age 25 with 7 years left of his career.

I just want Gareth to stay. I don't care about respect from others..I just think if he stays we could tilt at the title if he goes we are looking at top 4. I know we are improving but it is a bit like a semi (and I don't mean final)

Promising but it does not stay til the end.

The trouble with a lot of people on here is that they just Gareth Bale the footballer, and not Gareth Bale the high profile marketing machine. You simply cannot replace a player like Gareth Bale, even with the money we'd recoup from his sale. We would stand to lose more in marketing, sponsorship deals, merchandising etc.

It isn't simply a case of 'ooh look 85 million quid - cheers!'.

everybody has their price and there's a number I'd be delighted with for Bale (not worked out how much yet mind)

yet, if we don't sell Bale and he performs to the same level as last season we are title contenders, not sure there are any likely replacements that keep us at that level

whatever happens all I hope is that the decision is ultimately AVB's

reading that back it reminds me, all the AVB to PSG talk way back when, I said then, and I stand by it now, AVB going would have been far worse than selling Bale

The two go hand in hand though. Keeping AVB is one of few reasons Bale may wish to stay. If we'd lost AVB Bale would've put in a transfer request already.

absolutely, but losing Bale means we need to rejig, losing AVB means starting from scratch, again, as the entire coaching structure and tactical ethos of the club is by his design

Exactly. 85 million quid is a gift, but Gareth Bale is the gift that keeps on giving on and off the pitch.

Lets say Bale says 10 million shirts and the price of shirts is 40 quid each. That's £40 million right away with us still having Bale. And we'd probably be able to sell more than that. That's shirts alone, not including everything else that comes with having a world class player. We still have TV deals, potnetial Champions League qualifcation, increased membership, sponsorship and much more else to consder.

If theirs ever been a time or player for Levy to break the wage structure on it's now and on Gareth Bale.

Real Madrid are on tour in USA and Perez is their. I wouldn't laugh yet.

Here's the thing mate...the figures being quotes -85-100 mill- are figures WE would at least demand. Madrid have not offered those figures. Madrid haven't offered anything. They are working the player/agent so hard to try and get THEM to make bale a potentially undesirable presence at the club, thus trying to force our hand to sell, and then at a LOWER price.

I would agree that perhaps it was foolish to be so brazenly confident, but there are others who now likely feel the same closer to the situation than I will ever be in a week of Sundays.
